The State of Ailao was founded by the ancestors of the Dai people, the Min people, the first Dai regime recorded in history, and an important carrier for the formation of the Dai ethnic group today. In the mid-5th century BC, the Min state between the Nu River and the Lancang River formed an alliance state centered on the "Mengpao (Elephant Kingdom)", and then gradually expanded in three directions: east, west and south, from the Yunling Mountains in the east to the Irrawaddy River Basin in the west, to the southern foothills of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the north, and to the south-central Shan Plateau in the south. At the end of the 2nd century BC, when the Eastern Tu Han Kingdom expanded to its southwest, it tried to contact the "Mengpao", but due to the obstruction of the barbarian tribes in the middle, it did not come into contact with the "Mengpao", and Sima Qian recorded the "Mengpao" as the "Elephant Kingdom" in the "Records of History". In the 1st century BC, after the Han Dynasty conquered the barbarians in the middle of the Yunnan Plateau, it began to have contact with the "Mengpao", thus calling the "Mengpao" the "Ailao State", and the inhabitants of the Ailao State with the Main Body of the Min people were therefore called "Ailaoyi".

The King of Sorrows

Later, the Han Dynasty transferred barbarian armed forces from the central Yunnan Plateau to counterattack the Ailao forces, and the Ailao Wang Gang was beheaded and the remnants of the royal family crossed the Nu River in the west. A few years later, the state of Ailaoren, west of the Nu River, reorganized the alliance state at the crossing "Daguang" on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, and the Book of Later Han and other Chinese texts recorded this country as the "Shan State".

In 738, Ailaoyi rose again, and the small state of Ailaoyi located in the upper reaches of the Lishe River, "Mengshe", conquered the surrounding small states and entered the Erhai Basin to establish the Nanzhao State. The New Book of Tang and nan man shang records: "Nanzhao, or Hetuo, Yue Longwei, Yue Tho, Yue Yang Sword, after the mourning of the prison, Wu Man other species also."

The last remnants of the Ailao Kingdom are the Ailao Ancestral Hall on the eastern mountain of Baoshan Mountain, the Qinghua Sea and the unique and incomprehensible "Plough Rake Society", followed by the wind of drinking. The old saying that there are also the Ailao King's Palace, the Royal Garden, the Jade Spring, the Tomb of Lady Ailao, and the Large and Small Official Temples have all been extinguished.

The Ancestral Temple of the Nanzhao Royal Family, the Ancestral Temple of the Nanzhao Royal Family, the Xiaonu Luo or Mu Yixun commemorate the bloodline coming from the old clan of the Ailao Kingdom, and also warn the descendants of where their roots lie, because the Nanzhao Royal Family, like the Cuan Clan, also leads the various priesthoods and in-laws of the main ethnic groups. In this sense, Nanzhao is undoubtedly the revival of the mourning state. Therefore, after the establishment of the ancestral temple, the Nanzhao royal family continued to build large and small official temples to commemorate the Ailao royal family, and at the same time formed a regular temple festival. The sense of loss of the mourners was thus compensated, and the Han and Jin immigrant culture was gradually integrated.

Looking at the mourning prison from a distance, the soft clouds and mist swirl around the peaks, and the hidden majesty meets the sky... Walking into the mourning prison, the green posture and the white clouds kiss each other, fluttering and swaying, like a heavenly garden, mysterious and full of vitality, the towering mourning prison on the west bank of the Red River, the green peak ring show, the forest sea cangdai, the green sky.

Walking into the heart of the Ailao Mountain, a large tree shaped like a coiled dragon and python, the vines are entangled, involving the ancient beard, and attaching new life. The trunk is covered with green moss, and the edges of the velvet leaves are full of life under the outline of the sun, which contains warm greenery and refreshing the heart. Everywhere in the forest, you can see old vines and old trees, birds singing and wind singing, and strange stones and clear ponds, the soul of mourning cast by thousands of animals and plants, throwing a string of insoluble mysteries to the outside world.

Here is the Tea Horse Trail, here is the horse gang walked, the itinerary here is a little long, if you have good physical strength, you can finish, after walking you will cross four different styles of bridges, along the way the trees are tall, vines and trees are entangled, the stream passes through, clear to the bottom. Entering the dense forest of the Tea Horse Ancient Road, slowly extending a bluestone path, the ancient merchants used their feet to step out of a rugged and long Tea Horse Ancient Road. Yunnan's famous "Pu'er tea" used to be traded in the form of tea horses, from this vast forest sea to the outside world. Today, the ancient road is lonely, the lead is washed, and the prosperity of the past is scattered behind the green figure of the mourning prison, only the deep horseshoe prints in the dense forest quietly guard the footprints of the civilization of the predecessors. Wrapped and covered by vines, there are remnants of brick rubble from the ruins of Qianjiazhai and the stone arches of the iron-making furnace on the ancient road station.
