Today I want to talk about Yongbulakang, the first palace in the history of Tibet, built in the second century BC, more than 2,000 years ago, when Songtsen Gampo and Princess Wencheng would come here for a period of vacation and life every summer, so it was their summer residence.
Like all the palaces and temples in Tibet, Yongbrakham was built on a high mountain tip, which looks like a heavenly palace from a distance, majestic and sacred! The name of this mountain is Tashi Ciri Mountain, which looks like a doe, and the doe is "Yongbu" in Tibetan, so the palace built on it is called "Yongbukang".
From the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain, a winding road has been built, which looks very good to climb, but it will be very difficult to walk, so there are many Tibetans waiting at the foot of the mountain with horses, and they can ride horses up the mountain for 50 yuan, and the round trip is 80 yuan. I have ridden Yongbrakon's horse twice, and because some of the hills have a relatively large slope, it is quite bumpy.
The horse walks up the mountain road, and Yongbrakang will emerge from behind the mountain little by little, so that you can slowly see its true appearance, the roadside fence is like the Great Wall, through which you can see the green farmland under the mountain, as well as the dense Tibetan houses, where the locals have lived and worked for generations.
Only halfway up the mountainside, you can hear the wind chimes coming from the high wall of Yongbulakang, crisp and long, as if from the ancient times of a thousand years ago.
The closer you get to Yongbrakon, the more you can feel its towering, relict and independent, the palace has 5 floors inside and out, high and low, close to each other, the walls are all snow white, the top is left with a circle of dark red bricks, and the top is a golden roof.
The middle floor is 11 meters high, small and large, it is a watchtower, in fact, it is indeed impregnable, and the lower floors are interconnected halls. Walking along the steep staircase to the palace, the wind is getting stronger and stronger, and the ringing cloth on the palace wall is hunting and hunting, which contrasts with the blue sky and white clouds, which is the color that belongs to Tibet alone.
At the simmering stove, there are Tibetan grandmothers selling pine and cypress branches, 5 yuan a small bowl, which is used for simmering mulberry. Mulberry smoke rose from the white stove and went straight into the blue sky.
The golden glittering prayer wheel surrounds Yongbrakon, and people push the prayer wheel clockwise, with towering palaces on one side and cliffs on the other.
Climbing to the main hall, the stairs are high and steep, coupled with the wind hula la la la, the feet are inevitably a little soft, afraid of accidentally rolling to the foot of the mountain. Standing at the entrance of the palace, looking out into the distance, under the blue sky and white clouds, there are rolling mountains, green farmland, and denseLy packed Tibetan-style residential houses.
One of the pieces of farmland is the first farmland in the history of Tibet, and in the barren Tibetan land, the locals talk about it, and every year during spring ploughing, farmers will wear festive costumes and hold a grand ploughing ceremony here.
Yongbulakang's architectural design is very exquisite, from the appearance is 5 floors, layer by layer, into the interior but found only 3 floors, the first floor is only 1.2 meters high, there are narrow passages and stairs to the second and third floors, don't look at its outer wall is heavy, the interior is very narrow, the smallest room is only 2.28 square meters, the widest is only 4.18 square meters, it can be seen that the place where Songtsam Gampo and Princess Wencheng lived, smaller than most of us now, the bedroom is really surprising.
Nowadays, the palace has been converted into a temple, enshrined in the bodhisattva, behind the palace, is the hillside where the prayer flag is hung, after coming out of Yongbrakang, bringing colorful prayer flags, tied between the rocks on the mountain, making a wish for the future, the wind of the plateau blows in gusts, the prayer flags whistle, and the wind chimes on the palace also hear a melodious sound.
