The founding major general, named Wang Fuzhi, was born in 1923 in a poor peasant family in Zizhou County, Shaanxi Province, and when he was 5 years old, his mother died, and his father went to work in the landlord's family in Yan'an to support the family, while the young Wang Fuzhi followed his grandfather to live with him at home, honing Wang Fuzhi's strong character in this difficult environment.
When Wang Fuzhi was older, he was taken to Yan'an by his father to herd cattle for the landlord's family, and his father also sent him to a private school to study, although the family was not rich, but his father's move touched Wang Fuzhi's young heart, and he was very grateful to his father. But the good times did not last long, and the family soon ran out of money, and the sensible Wang Fuzhi returned home, and instead of continuing to herd cattle for the landlords, he went to cultivate the land for the rich peasants.
When Wang Fuzhi was 12 years old, the Red Army team came to Yan'an, at first Wang Fuzhi saw that the army still had some scruples in his heart, because the previous Kuomintang was playing a mighty role in the local area, and the local people were deeply affected, after a period of observation, he often saw the Red Army team carrying water, cutting firewood, and doing farm work for the people, they were completely different from the previous Kuomintang, very close to the people, so he slowly changed his prejudice against the army.
When he deeply understood the Red Army team, heard the story of the Red Army's Long March, the admiration in his heart was spontaneous, so the idea of joining the Red Army slowly came to life, after some understanding, he learned that he had to be over 15 years old to join the Red Army, so he falsely declared his age that he was 16 years old, because Wang Fuzhi was 12 years old at the time, but his height was more than one meter six, so the Red Army responsible for conscription did not doubt his age, he excitedly went home and told his father that his father only had such a son. Although he was reluctant to do so, he eventually supported his son to join the Red Army.
Because he experienced more hardships than his peers since childhood, Wang Fuzhi had outstanding achievements on the battlefield and made many military achievements, he not only participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan, but also participated in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
In 1950, the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out in full swing, and in 1952, Wang Fuzhi led his troops to defend his position east of Jinchuan in Korea, where he was then the acting commander of the 115th Division of the 39th Army.
On August 2, 1952, the war correspondent Liu Ming came to the tunnel where Wang Fuzhi was located, and in order to have a place to write a press release, Wang Fuzhi gave up his position to Liu Ming, and then Wang Fuzhi and several members of staff went to the nearby cave to discuss the battle plan.
Not long after they had discussed, the enemy aircraft bombardment began, and a shell hit Wang Fuzhi directly above the hole where they were, and with a bang, the hole collapsed, and several of Wang Fuzhi's men were crushed in the rubble pile and fainted.
I don't know how long later, Wang Fuzhi woke up, saw a piece of darkness around him, he wanted to stand up, only to find that the stone had crushed him unable to move, so Wang Fuzhi called out the name of the chief of staff several times, and did not respond, and then called out to others, only a faint moaning sound. At this time, although he was a little desperate, he did not give up, only hoping that he could get out of the stone mortar as soon as possible and then save others.
He endured severe pain and pushed the stone away from his body again and again, and after three hours, he finally got out from under the stone pillar, and when he groped to the mouth of the cave, he found that the mouth of the cave had been sealed by the falling rubble, and at the same time the air in the cave was getting thinner and thinner, some of his comrades were smashed and dying, and because there was no medicine, food and water, the three survivors of the cave were in a desperate situation.
In the enemy's bombardment, Liu Ming and other 4 people died on the spot, after the enemy aircraft flew away, the field rescue team rushed to the battlefield where they were located for rescue at the first time, and learned that Wang Fuzhi and others were still in the cave, so the rescue team did not dare to stop for a moment, due to the backward excavation tools, they could only dig little by little, in order to dig out the comrades in the hole as soon as possible, the rescue team changed several waves of people to dig day and night.
Until noon the next day, the rescue team called General Peng Dehuai, saying that he had not been killed for so long and had suffocated, and asked to give up the rescue, and General Peng Dehuai called back: Do everything possible to rescue, even if you sacrifice, you must return to the motherland with the remains of the martyrs.
Although the rescue team had no hope for Wang Fuzhi and the others, they continued to rescue after receiving the order, but because the soil layer was too thick, they dug up for a whole day and did not see Wang Fuzhi's body, at this time, the person in charge of the rescue team considered that it was saved, and the people inside must have been sacrificed, so they told this news to Wu Xinquan, and Wu Xinquan's sad order found a large coffin for Wang Fuzhi.
In the process of rescue, two flies suddenly flew out of the mouth of the cave, and someone shouted: "Look at two flies flying out of the hole, indicating that there is air inside!" They're still alive! Hearing these words, the enthusiasm of the rescue team immediately came, and finally 38 hours later, the opening of the cave was dug open, and Wang Fuzhi and the three of them were rescued.
