On June 21, local time, the "Fischer Couple's Visit to China Photo Exhibition from 1976 to 1977" opened at the Vienna City Hall in Austria, and about 50 people from all walks of life in China and Austria attended the opening ceremony. More than 50 historical photographs and videos show former Austrian President Fischer's visit to China in late 1976 and early 1977 as members of the Austrian National Assembly and his wife to the AUSF delegation.

In his speech, Fischer said that he first visited China in 1974, his second visit at the end of 1976, and has visited China 11 times so far. Each visit to China was a unique and precious experience that deepened his understanding and interest in China. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Austria and China, and facts have proved that the historical decision made by the leaders of the two countries to establish diplomatic relations is correct; it is correct for the two sides to make joint efforts to promote the continuous development of bilateral relations; and the way for Austria and China to hold frank dialogue and properly handle differences is also correct. China and Austria should adopt a just, rational and constructive attitude, respect and support each other, strengthen communication, deepen cooperation, jointly safeguard multilateralism and the international system with the United Nations at its core, and maintain international peace and security.

Li Xiaosi, Chinese ambassador to Austria, said that more than 40 years have passed since the Fischers visited China in 1976. During this period, China has developed into the world's second largest economy, the people's living standards have improved significantly, and efforts are being made to make people live a better life. China will continue to adhere to the path of peaceful development, continuously deepen reform, expand opening up, and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries.

In his speech, The Mayor of Vienna Ludwig said that the photo exhibition contains precious images from the visit of Fischer and his wife to China from 1976 to 1977, presenting a new perspective on China's economic and social development from a close distance, which is highly consistent with the theme of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Austria and China this year. The photos and videos on display vividly illustrate the great changes in China's development and help to deepen Austria's knowledge and understanding of China. Over the past 40 years, China has adhered to the path of modernization and development and opening up to the outside world, rising to become a world economic power and an important political and economic partner of Austria. Austria is one of the first European countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, and has always attached importance to developing relations with China, and exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields and at all levels have continued to advance, with remarkable results. He will actively recommend this exhibition to his Austrian friends, and the city of Vienna will continue to maintain good cooperative relations with China. (Reporter Xue Jingmeng)
