The idea of the former German vice chancellor calling "isolating China" absurd, the Foreign Office: endorses Mr. Fischer's objective and rational assessment

On June 24, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian presided over a regular press conference, some of which were as follows.

Q: Former German Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Fischer recently wrote an article pointing out that it is misleading to compare the relationship between the West and China to the us-Soviet relationship during the Cold War, and considering the interdependence between China and the world economy, those who think that China can be isolated are absurd. What is China's comment on this?

A: We agree with Mr. Fischer's objective and rational assessment.

The Cold War has ended for more than 30 years, the global political and economic situation is not what it used to be, the interests of all countries are deeply intertwined, and the zero-sum game and Cold War mentality are destined to be eliminated by history. As Mr. Fischer put it, the global challenges of the twenty-first century require great powers to embrace cooperation rather than "who comes first".

Cooperation is the trend of history, and win-win is the aspiration of the people. Using the Cold War model to contain and isolate any country is an unrealistic fantasy. China has always adhered to the path of peaceful development, open development, cooperative development and common development, advocated the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom for all mankind, and always promoted the construction of a new type of international relations and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. We hope that those who are still immersed in the dream of the Cold War will wake up as soon as possible, listen more to the insights of people of insight, and do more things that are conducive to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation among countries and conforming to the common development interests of all mankind.
