Feng Yuxiang

Feng Yuxiang, whose original name was Feng Jishan, was born in 1882 in Qing County (present-day Cangzhou, Hebei).

Feng Yuxiang's grandfather was a general of the late Qing Dynasty, but when his father Feng Youmao fell into the family road, he was only a small officer. Feng Yuxiang grew up tall and tall, and at the age of 15, he ran to Baoding to join his father's Huai Army, and the father and son of the same army could also get some guidance from their father. However, soon after his father was laid off due to illness, Feng Yuxiang stayed alone in the military camp and trained harder and harder for a mouthful of food.

In February 1902, Feng Yuxiang switched to the Wuwei Right Army. In 1905, he married Liu Dezhen.

Feng Yuxiang's ancestral home is Chaohu Lake, and zhang zhizhong and Li Kenong are known as the "three masters of Chaohu Lake". However, the famous Xiangshi Peng Hanfeng commented on this: Mr. Huan Zhang, who looks like Liu Bei, is as talented as Sun Quan, Zhibi Dong Zhuo, and as deceitful as Lü Bu, but unfortunately lucky as Yuan Shao.

Feng Yuxiang in 1924

In 1911, Feng Yuxiang, Zhang Shusheng, Han Fuyu and others participated in the Luanzhou Uprising.

However, this revolution was very unsuccessful, and all three were captured by Wang Huaiqing, the "toilet general" of the Qing army, but they were all released later. Soon, Feng Yuxiang also became Lu Jianzhang's niece and son-in-law, and soon rose to the rank of Guan Dai (battalion commander), but was a high official at the end of the Qing Dynasty.

In 1920, Duan Qirui, Cao Kun and Wu Peifu broke out the "Zhiwan War, and the direct family won in the end." In July 1921, Feng Yuxiang joined his direct family and became the overseer of Shaanxi under the support of the Soviet Union, and his army has since called itself the "Northwest Army".

In 1923, Liu Dezhen died of illness. The following year, Feng Yuxiang remarried Li Dequan, and because Li Dequan believed in Christianity, Feng Yuxiang also converted to Christianity and wanted to transform the Northwest Army into a pure-hearted Puritan army with the help of Jesus. In 1924, Feng Yuxiang, Hu Jingyi and Sun Yue launched the "Beijing Coup", but no matter how much they coerced and seduced Puyi, they did not find the Chuanguo Yuxi.

Feng Yuxiang's Northwest Army

In 1926, Feng Yuxiang was defeated by the Zhifeng Coalition army and had to investigate in the Soviet Union.

In the Soviet Union, he met Liu Bojian and invited him to return to China to help him take the oath in Wuyuan and participate in the Northern Expedition. After years of accumulation, the generals have grown up and have the backbone of the "Thirteenth Taibao" Han Fuyu, Sun Liangcheng, Sun Lianzhong, Shi Yousan, Liu Ruming and so on.

On July 2, 1928, time magazine in the United States put Feng Yuxiang on the cover, and praised this burly Christian and sharpshooter who usually did not leave the Bible, calling him a marshal with the world's largest private army of 195,000 people.

In 1929, Feng Yuxiang was stationed in Xuzhou, advocating tree planting as usual, and also wrote an oil poem: Old Feng is stationed in Xuzhou, the big trees are green and oily, whoever cuts down my tree, I cut off whose head. However, not long after, he and Jiang Shi jointly sent our personnel out.

Feng Yuxiang, Jiang Shi, Yan Xishan

In March 1930, Feng Yuxianghe and Yan Xishan joined forces to deal with Jiang.

Chiang Kai-shek's rise to the top has long aroused the dissatisfaction of various warlords, and Tang Shengzhi and Li Zongren have also followed suit, and the "Central Plains War" is about to break out. At this time, Jiang had an army of nearly 600,000, while Feng Yuxiang, Yan Xishan, Li Zongren, and Tang Shengzhi combined exceeded 800,000. However, due to the uneven hearts of the miscellaneous cards, the two sides eventually fought a draw, and no one could help the other for a while.

After half a year, Jiang Tried his best to win over Zhang Xueliang in the northeast, and 300,000 troops outside Guanwai supported Jiang, breaking the balance of the Central Plains War. As a result, Tang Shengzhi defected to the Jiang clan, and Yan Xishan and Li Zongren each returned to their respective homes, but finally saved the army and the territory of Shanxi and Guangxi. Only old Feng Zhong rebelled and almost lost his leggings, and later ran to Taishan to live in seclusion.

Feng Yuxiang, who was once the "first warlord", suddenly fell apart in the army maintained by the patriarchy.

However, it cannot be said that Feng Yuxiang was a "small strong man who could not die", although there was no soldier or pawn, when he was still actively resisting Japan after the "918" in 1931, the Japanese army crossed Shanhaiguan in January 1933 after the Battle of Songhu and entered the Rehe River.

In May 1933, Ji Hongchang and Fang Zhenwu used the signboard of commander-in-chief Feng Yuxiang to quickly pull up the Chahar Anti-Japanese Allied Army of 100,000 people. In June, the Allied forces recaptured Kangbao, Guyuan, and Baochang, and in July they recaptured the important town of Duolun in Chadong and restored the four counties of Chadong. However, Chiang not only did not support the anti-Japanese allies, but instead ordered He Yingqin to gather heavy troops and stab him in the back.

The vigorous anti-Japanese army eventually failed, Ji Hongchang was killed, and Feng Yuxiang once again lived in seclusion in Taishan.

In April 1935, nine people were awarded the first class general: Feng Yuxiang, Zhu Peide, Li Zongren, He Yingqin, Zhang Xueliang, Chen Jitang, Tang Shengzhi, Yan Xishan, and Chen Shaokuan. Later, 8 people were promoted or promoted, including Liu Xiang, Cao Kun, and Cheng Qian.

In 1935, First Class General Feng Yuxiang

On July 7, 1937, the All-out War of Resistance broke out, and the Northwest Army was the first to rise up against Japan.

Feng Yuxiang also served as the commander of the Third and Sixth Theaters, and was soon expelled from his post, but still ran around actively resisting Japan. The Northwest Army, such as Song Zheyuan, Tong Linge, Zhao Dengyu, Zhang Zizhong, Pang Bingxun and others, were the mainstay of the anti-Japanese battlefield.

Feng Yuxiang was known as "General Christ" and "General Buyi", and was even ridiculed as "General Of Renegade": down the Qing court, down Yuan Shikai, down Duan Qirui, down Cao Kun, down Zhang Zuolin, down Beiyang, qing dang, the Great War of the Central Plains, and the liberation of Chiang Kai-shek again.

Take a closer look at each of Feng Yuxiang's defections, in fact, most of them still conform to the times and the trend of development.

In January 1948, Feng Yuxiang spoke out in the United States, announcing that he would overthrow Chiang with the democrats.

This was his 9th defection, and in order to prevent assassination by agents, he made a will in advance and wrote "I" as an epitaph.

In August, Feng Yuxiang was invited by the chairman and the premier to return from the United States to participate in the preparatory work of the CPPCC.

On September 1, as the ship Victory sailed from the Black Sea to the Soviet port of Odessa (present-day Ukraine), Feng Yuxiang's cabin suddenly caught fire because of camera film, and both his daughter Feng Xiaoda, who was 66 years old at the time, were killed.

What caused this sudden fire is still an unsolved mystery.

On October 15, 1953, Feng Yuxiang's remains were buried in Taishan, the cemetery was personally selected by the chairman, and the tomb wall was engraved with the epitaph "I" written in advance by General Feng Yuxiang:

Civilian life, civilian life; do not talk about beauty, do not be broad;

Only for the people, only for the country. Unremitting struggle, honesty and humility.

This ambition is unswerving, and the oath is to die against the Wo! Do your best, I write what I say.

Grit your teeth and I am who I am. Work hard, a little good!
