Former Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region , Tsang Yam-kuen , was convicted of "misconduct by public officials" and sentenced to 20 months in prison, after which he appealed. The court ruled on 20 July 2018 rejecting Tsang's appeal but commuting his sentence to 12 months. However, Tsang suddenly felt unwell in the High Court and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Between 1 January 2010 and 30 June 2012, Tsang Yam-kuen, 74, was found guilty of a jury 8-1 conviction, sentenced to 20 months in prison, and was released on bail after serving about two months after serving his sentence for about two months. In addition to appealing for conviction, he also appealed against the sentence and HK$5 million in legal costs.

In September 2017, Tsang Yam-kuen was retried against the Chief Executive for accepting benefits, and the jury still failed to reach a large-scale ruling, and in the case that two different juries failed to reach a valid ruling under two different trials, the prosecution finally decided not to apply for a retrial of the case for the time being, but also accused Tsang Yam-kuen of remaining silent and obstructing the investigation when he was investigated by the ICAC, so he was required to pay HK$5 million in legal fees.

The court announced its ruling at 10:00 on 20 July 2018, and unanimously ruled that Tsang Yam-kuen failed to overturn the conviction of "misconduct in public office", but successfully reduced his sentence from 20 months to 12 months, and the appeal of costs was also successfully reduced to HK$1 million. Since Tsang had only served 63 days in prison, he had to return to prison immediately for the remainder of his sentence.

It is reported that on February 20, 2017, Zeng Yam-kuen also felt unwell in the detention center and was sent to the hospital for examination. (Overseas Network/Liang Yi)
