The principal should be like this "one person"

"As long as I still have a breath, I will stand on the podium, do my best, give everything, and die nine times without regret." This is the voice of President Zhang Guimei at the ceremony of awarding the "July 1st Medal". Principal Zhang Guimei was helped into the Great Hall of the People, and the moment she stepped onto the podium, I saw the appearance of a good principal. The appearance of every good principal is the way his educational ideology stands up, and it is the way he runs one or more schools well. Without good educational ideas and good schools, the so-called good principals cannot be seen, cannot stand, and are not far away.

As a principal for nearly ten years, I have also initially formed my own view of principal: the symbol of school warmth, the prop for the growth of teachers and students. This view of principals is also based on my personal view of education: doing education with stories and running schools with temperature. In order to consistently practice this view of the principal, I am trying to become such a "person".

The man who sticks to the values of running a school

Career is a long run of values, and principals should be far-sighted and uphold advanced educational concepts and management concepts. The values of running a school are the soul of the school and the DNA of the school. Principals should have the ability to refine, adhere to and practice the values of running a school, so that the values of running a school grow on their own campus, exude a unique personality and temperament, and become a banner leading teachers and students to the future.

In 2013, at The Lotus Experimental School in Nanjing, in view of the fact that more than 85% of the students are the children of migrant workers in the city, I put forward the school running values of "doing education with stories and running schools with temperature". In 2017, at Erid International School in Zhengzhou High-tech Zone, I put forward the school running values of "taking the road of natural growth education and running a school with temperature and a story". The values of running a school are not slogans hanging on the wall, but should be the consciousness that is integrated into the hearts of teachers and students. To achieve this, the principal needs to achieve four transformations: the first is to transform the school-running values into the specific development goals of the school, strive to achieve the goals of each semester, and defend the status of the school-running values with actions; the second is to transform the school-running values into the cultural atmosphere of the school, soften the relationship, inspire teachers and students, and unite people's hearts through the physical environment, characteristic activities, common discourse expression, etc.; the third is to transform the school-running values into solid school-running achievements, so that the beautiful educational vision is reflected in the growth of students. In terms of teacher development and outstanding school running level, compared with slogans, word of mouth can enhance the recognition of teachers and students for school running values; the fourth is to transform school running values into the principal's personal style of doing things, the principal's temperament is the school's temperament, and the harmonious unity of school running values and the principal's personal conduct can increase each other's thickness. The above must be responded to through "doing" and "persistence", when we are in the middle of it and persevere, and with teachers and students to reach consensus, empathy, resonance and dance together, the values of running the school can be deeply rooted in the campus.

The one who keeps closest to the teacher and student

Principal is not only a position, but also a profession that requires professionalism and professional pursuit. Management is relationship science, I always believe that education = relationship + contact, education = love + be loved, education = kindness + expectation, therefore, the principal should be "long" in the school, "long" in the teacher and student, close to teachers and students. When you are near, you have a sense of security, and when you are close, you are a family.

"Ai jiajia" and "Ai jiajun" are high-frequency words in our mouths. For more than four years, I have always kept a close distance from students through the principal's 60 seconds, weekly storytelling under the national flag, the principal's mailbox, the luncheon of the assistant student principal, signing and delivering books for each birthday student, and participating in the "Six Ones" theme course with the students. On a campus of more than 1,300 students, I can blurt out the names of the students who come to me. I maintain close relationships with faculty and staff through monthly expert visits to campus, cheongsam festivals, birthday salons, monthly movie days, and more. I know more than 300 faculty members throughout the school. Most of the year, I spend time in school, the office door is always open, teachers and students can come and go freely, at any time to visit. Because I "grew" in the school, the teachers are more "long" in the classroom, many teachers have been in the classroom office, and every student has a confidant who can whisper among the teachers.

Someone once asked me what my position was for children, and my answer was to be closer, closer to children. You can see the appearance of teachers and students, you can hold the joy of teachers and students, you can catch the sorrows of teachers and students, and you really love teachers and students, you are a good principal.

The one who keeps the school boiling

The school is the gathering place of life and the growth field of teachers and students. The state of life should be boiling, and the state of school should be boiling. Now, a classroom is not the whole world of students, one test paper can not determine all the fixed numbers of life, unlimited possibilities are the essence of children's growth. The school should be watery, wet, warm, and lively.

Mr. Gu Mingyuan said that students grow up in activities. Only a variety of activities can boil the campus. Through the implementation of project authorization and innovation empowerment, we carry out a variety of comprehensive practical activities according to spring birth, summer long, autumn harvest, winter Tibet and the twenty-four solar terms. School Day, 10-year-old coming-of-age ceremony, Math Festival, Drama Festival, Culture Week, Sports Festival, Bun Day, HamburgEr Day, Vegetarian Day... The school celebrates every day like a festival. Every day is the same, every day is different, and the sense of festival and ceremony makes every ordinary day shine. The school promotes the growth of each teacher and student by building more ladders, building larger platforms, and giving better brands. Friends of education peers said that our school is vivid every day, and the school teachers also lamented that they "bring love, shine, prepare their own small motors, and step on the hot wheels" and "go to work like going to a feast".

It can be seen that if the school is a big pot, the principal is the person who cooks the pot, and the two keys to making the pot boil up are that there is water in the pot and firewood under the pot. Projects, events, festivals, and ceremonies are like water in a pot, and intangible factors such as trust are the firewood under the pot.

The man who brought the school to the future

Education is a future-oriented undertaking. The future is not a place to be reached, but a place to be created, and all futures should start from underfoot.

First of all, the future needs "holistic people", focusing on the sound personality and complete personality of people. Our comprehensive literacy evaluation and student credit system evaluation every semester are based on developmental, pluralistic, individual, and comprehensive evaluation, and there are a thousand students with a thousand rulers, so as to measure the beautiful difference and precious existence of each student. Second, the future has shifted from focusing on knowledge to focusing on literacy, requiring the ability to respond flexibly to challenges and solve practical problems. Core literacy should be "planted" on students, so that they will not feel fear or strange when they go to the future. If future education needs to cultivate students' abilities, I personally feel that it should be creativity and the ability to love and be loved. A creative student must be able to cope with the future, and a student who is full of love and being loved in his heart must be able to adapt to the future life. So, I think children's pen name is Future, and education's pen name is Far Away. Don't take a telescope to look at poetry and the distance, but should hold a microscope to face people and the present. Drucker, the father of modern management, once said that strategy is not to study what we will do in the future, but to study what we do today to have a future.
