The 2024 National Adult College Enrollment Unified Examination will be held from October 19th to 20th, and a few days ago, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Enrollment of National Adult Colleges and Universities in 2024", and the "Notice" clarified that from next autumn, the name of "correspondence" and "amateur" will no longer be used for higher education continuing education, and it will be unified as "non-part-time".

It is understood that the learning form of continuing education for higher education can be divided into two categories: full-time and non-full-time, among them, correspondence and amateur belong to the non-full-time learning mode, "correspondence" refers to the distance self-study textbooks and learning materials, supplemented by face-to-face tutoring, Q&A, etc., "amateur" refers to the main use of nights, weekends and other spare time to study in school. With the economic and social development, especially the improvement of the digital level of education, the combination of online and offline has become the main way of continuing education and learning, and in practice, learning methods such as "correspondence" and "amateur" have basically converged.
In order to strengthen standardized management, the Ministry of Education issued a document in 2022 that from the fall of 2025, the names of "correspondence" and "part-time" will no longer be used in continuing education for higher education, and will be unified as "non-part-time". The continuing education for academic qualifications held by ordinary colleges and universities is unified through the adult college entrance examination, the basic requirements for professional teaching, the minimum study period, and the graduation certificate are unified. Correspondence, part-time, and online education students who have registered for enrollment shall be subject to the original policy.
In addition, the Ministry of Education also requires all schools in all localities to plan in advance to do a good job in the connection of relevant work, accurately grasp the positioning of adult higher education, combined with economic and social development, strengthen the analysis and prediction of the demand for adult higher education in the region and the industry, and comprehensively consider factors such as social needs, school-running conditions, and student sources, and further optimize the structure of enrollment majors. For majors whose training quality is not high, the social demand is insufficient, and the training is excessive, the enrollment plan should be appropriately reduced.
