Cloudy weather and lack of sunlight are the main factors affecting vegetable yield. Low light reduces the efficiency of photosynthesis, while respiration nutrient consumption proceeds normally, and if this continues, the plant will inevitably die. Therefore, by increasing the light in the shed to ensure that photosynthetic production is greater than respiratory consumption, it is equivalent to solving the "survival crisis" of the plant.
Try to pull the shed to prolong the time of seeing the light
On cloudy days, vegetable farmers should make full use of the scattered light, as long as the temperature conditions are acceptable and it does not rain, vegetable farmers should open the shed to make the vegetables see the light. However, in order to ensure the temperature of the shed, it is recommended that the shed time is 0.5~1 hour later than the sunny day, and the shed time in the afternoon is 0.5~1 hour earlier than the sunny day. If the temperature of the shed drops quickly after pulling the shed, and exceeds 3 °C ~ 5 °C, the shed can be temporarily stopped.
Clean the shed film in time to improve the light transmittance of the shed film
The dust on the greenhouse film will seriously affect the light transmittance of the greenhouse film, especially the greenhouse near the roadside, this situation is more serious, even if it is sunny, it feels like a cloudy day in the shed, let alone a cloudy day with very weak light intensity. Therefore, taking measures to remove dust is of great help to improve the light intensity in the shed on cloudy days. Vegetable farmers can remove most of the dust on the greenhouse film by setting up dust strips, and combine it with a rag to wipe off the dust on the front face and the northernmost part of the greenhouse film. In addition, attention should also be paid to reducing the condensation on the inner surface of the film to reduce the impact on light transmittance.
Hang a reflective curtain
On cloudy days, hanging reflective curtains can effectively increase the light intensity in the shed and promote the accumulation of photosynthesis, which has more advantages than disadvantages. However, in some greenhouses, the reflective curtain is hung too low or the hanging angle is wrong, and the vegetable plants are easy to block the light, and the use effect is poor. When hanging, vegetable farmers can pull a wire from east to west along the walkway of the shed at a height of 2 meters on the back wall, cut the two 1-meter-wide reflective curtains with length as needed, glue them together with transparent tape to form a 2-meter-wide screen, fold the upper end of the screen, wrap the wire, and then fix it with transparent tape to form a curtain that naturally sags or is slightly inclined to the inside of the shed. Do not hang it against the back wall, so as not to reflect the light on the plant, and do not hang a reflective curtain on the entire back wall to prevent reducing the heat storage of the back wall and affecting the night temperature.
Install fill lights to increase the light
Vegetable farmers with conditions can also install high-pressure sodium lamps, fluorescent lamps or iodine-tungsten lamps in the shed to increase light. In case of cloudy days, you can turn on the light for 2~3 hours around noon to promote photosynthesis and avoid the lack of nutrients of plants, which will affect the growth of the later stage.
Laying white mulch
The white mulch film reflects light and sends it back to the leaves of the plant, which promotes photosynthesis. The black mulch film lacks this function, because the black mulch absorbs light, so it is recommended to choose white mulch as much as possible for laying mulch in the shed.
