Suspected of defrauding actor Bai Jing's husband by millions Qiao Yu was put on trial again

Beijing News Express (reporter Li Yutong) Qiao Yu, the "lover behind the scenes" led to the death of actor Bai Jing and his wife, was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Second Intermediate Court for fraud, and the latter judgment was sent back for retrial by the Municipal High Court on the grounds that the facts were unclear and the evidence was insufficient. On May 19, Qiao Yu was accused of fraud and once again stood in the dock.

On February 28, 2012, due to an emotional dispute, actor Bai Jing was stabbed to death by her husband Zhou Chenghai with a knife. Subsequently, Zhou Chenghai committed suicide. After the incident, Ju Chunlei, general manager of a beijing media company, broke the news that the tragedy occurred because the "third party" Qiao Yu intervened in Bai Jing and his wife and defrauded Zhou Chenghai of a huge amount of money.

On February 15, 2012, Qiao Yu was detained on suspicion of fraud. On March 24, 2015, the Second Intermediate People's Court sentenced Qiao Yu to 11 years in prison, deprivation of political rights for two years, and a fine of 11,000 yuan for fraud. The Houshi Higher People's Court sent the case back for retrial on the grounds that the facts were unclear and the evidence was insufficient. The reporter learned that the case was remanded for retrial, and the non-prosecution counter-appealed.

On the morning of May 19, Qiao Yu was tried at the Seventh Court of the Second Intermediate People's Court of Beijing Municipality. At about 9:40 a.m., Qiao Yu, 35, was brought into the courtroom by the bailiffs, appearing to be thinner than when he had been tried. In response to the case situation, Qiao Yu's defender said that it was inconvenient to disclose.

At around 11.40 a.m., the case was adjourned and the trial would continue in the afternoon.

On February 15, 2012, Qiao Yu was detained by Chaoyang police on suspicion of fraud.

On February 28, 2012, Qiao Yu was released on bail pending further investigation. At noon that day, Zhou Chenghai killed Bai Jing and committed suicide.

On May 24, 2013, the Second Branch of the Municipal Procuratorate filed a public indictment with the court, accusing Qiao Yu of defrauding Zhou Chenghai of about 9 million yuan. The Court then held four subsequent hearings in the case.

On March 24, 2015, the Second Intermediate People's Court sentenced Qiao Yu to 11 years in prison, deprivation of political rights for two years, and a fine of 11,000 yuan for fraud.

On May 19, 2016, the Second Intermediate People's Court retried Qiao Yu's case.

In early February 2012, Bai Jing sued for divorce on the grounds that her husband, Zhou Chenghai, was "unfaithful."

On February 23, 2014, the court rejected Bai Jia's claim, holding that the defendant Ju Chunlei's language was restrained, and the motivation for his speech was not to satisfy the public's voyeurism, but to attract the attention of the society and relevant departments, and did not constitute an invasion of privacy.
