Major General Zhao Jun, a native of Lu'an, Anhui Province, joined the Young Pioneers in 1929, joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in 1932, and became the Communist Party of China in the same year. He participated in the anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaigns in the Eyu-Anhui Soviet Region, the Western Expedition to the War, the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Region against the "Three-Way Siege", the Anti-Six-Way Siege, the Long March of the Red Fourth Front, and the Red West Road Army in the Hexi Corridor of Gansu. At the beginning of the founding of New China, he served as deputy commander and chief of staff of the Zhejiang Military Region. In 1957, he was appointed deputy chief of staff of the Headquarters of the Nanjing Military Region. In 1965, he was appointed commander of the Jiangsu Provincial Military Region. In 1975, he was appointed Executive Deputy Chief of Staff of the Headquarters of the Nanjing Military Region. In 1980, he was appointed as an adviser to the Nanjing Military Region.
