Crystal Sugar, a U.S.-based company, is trying to find a way to get more light into their food production facilities while maintaining strict safety standards. Finally, the company chose ETFE materials as a solution. The large glass-block windows outside the factory were replaced by ETFE air pillows.
Crystal Sugar is nearly 50 years old, and the company has continuously worked to update its factories — modernizing plant safety and food safety, increasing productivity and recovery rates — while also improving the working environment. Being able to use ETFE instead of glass in the factory not only eliminates food safety hazards, but also allows a lot of natural light to enter the factory. Factory work is hard work and long hours that keep workers away from friends and family, so employees deserve the best place to work, and ETFE enables companies to take another positive step in that direction.
