Jordan Poole's biggest shift surprised the Warriors, not his score

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown praised Jordan Poole for his incredible improvements in defense.

At the beginning of the season, the Warriors had a lot of problems, and Jordan Poole was arguably the number one person in it.

In the Warriors' first three games, Poole demonstrated his scoring prowess, scoring 17 points per game. What shocked Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, however, was not his offensive toughness. Instead, it was his exceptional defensive contribution.

Speaking on NBC Sports' "The Morning Roast," Brown said: "It's commendable that over the past four or five days, I, Steve, and other coaches have all praised Jordan in a positive way. I've been in the league for almost 30 years. I don't know if I've ever seen a player who has made as much progress as Jordan in defense in a week's time. ”

He added: "He is going from being an ordinary defender to a very good defender. ”

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr noticed the same thing.

According to Kerr's assessment, Poole played his "best defense" in Sunday's win over the Sacramento Kings.

In an interview with the Mercury after the game, Kerr said: "Jordan Poole probably played his best defense. He also complemented that with a very good offense. ”

So far, Poole has reached his peak as a defender, averaging 1.7 steals and 0.3 blocks per game. He expects another high-profile show during the Warriors' game against the Oklahoma Thunder on Wednesday.
