Bonding table tennis

After the earthquake, she regained her confidence in life and came out of the trough

Wang Rui, 28, is an athlete in the national table tennis team for the disabled. If it were not for the 2008 "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake, her life might have been a different story.

In 2008, 15-year-old Wang Rui was preparing for the exam in her classroom when the Wenchuan earthquake struck and several prefabricated boards hit her legs. After being buried under the rubble for more than 10 hours, when her father and uncle found her, her right leg muscles died of necrosis and she had to be amputated.

More than a month later, Wang Rui installed a prosthesis and stood up again, but was somewhat discouraged. At the age of 15, it is the age when the girls in the flower season love beauty, and Wang Rui has become silent. Wang Rui said that she was the only surviving student in the class who was disabled, "Why is it so unfair, why is only I so miserable!" ”

Children who were originally good at learning and learning have changed their lives since then. At that time, Wang Rui was particularly inferior, did not dare to go out, paid the tuition fee and resolutely did not go to school, afraid of seeing the strange eyes of his classmates.

At that time, Wang Rui was still young, and her parents still hoped that she would return to school. But when her father packed up her bed and sent her to high school, Wang Rui chose to drop out, "I want to escape from school and find a place to hide." ”

At the lowest point of her life, by chance, she formed an indissoluble relationship with table tennis.

During the treatment in Chengdu, Guo Xijing, a ping-pong coach for the disabled in Shaanxi, and others visited the hospital, which made Wang Rui regain confidence in life. Wang Rui said, "They told me about sports for the disabled, and I knew that I could still participate in sports. ”

At the end of 2008, Wang Rui did physical rehabilitation training in Chengdu, and the coach of the provincial disabled table tennis team Zhou Zaixing came to visit and offer condolences. Coach Zhou saw that Wang Rui had a certain foundation and mobilized her to practice table tennis.

"Why don't you try it?" Wang Rui, who had not made up his mind, told his father what he thought. However, her daughter's father took her to the Shifang Disabled Persons' Federation and the Deyang Disabled Persons' Federation. The Disabled Persons' Federation was very supportive of Wang Rui's idea and immediately contacted the Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation to introduce her to the Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation.

In the end, under the coordination of the Disabled Persons' Federation at all levels, Wang Rui got his wish and paid tribute to the coach under Zhou Zaixing. With one leg, she took an important step in changing her life.

Plant the seeds of hope

The one-legged girl keeps moving forward in the grind

In October 2009, 16-year-old Wang Rui received formal training and began practicing table tennis.

Since the start was much later than the other players, and there was no basic skill, everything started from scratch. She knew that her basic skills were not solid, so she increased the amount of training. The intense training made her stump painful.

In order to make rapid progress, Wang Rui continues to work hard and trains for no less than 8 hours a day. After the amputation, Wang Rui suffered from "phantom limb pain", which was exacerbated by high-intensity training, "feeling that a lot of needles were pricking the right foot." "Sometimes, lying in bed tossing and turning, the next day still thundering and arriving on time to train.

The amount of exercise is too large, Wang Rui's stump feet often move in the prosthesis, constantly turning, grinding the skin, bleeding is a common thing. The disinfectant potion she took wherever she went.

The legs and feet are inconvenient, even if the angle of the ball is tricky, Wang Rui will still rush over to grab the ball. If you are not careful, you will fall heavily to the ground.

After more than a year of hard training, Wang Rui participated in the Provincial Games in 2010, which was her first time in an official competition and won the first medal in her life, and she was happy and miserable, "This is the motivation of the competition, and everything that followed began from here." ”

In 2013, Wang Rui was selected for the national team for his outstanding performance. Leaving her hometown, she was most relieved by her father, mother, and elderly and sick grandmother.

Whenever she called her father, her father would tell her: "Baby, please rest assured that the family's affairs are so good now, and it is not a problem to eat and wear at home." Grandma's illness also applied to the civil administration for medical assistance. Everything is fine at home, you can play with peace of mind! ”

With the support of his family, Wang Rui threw himself into training even harder.
