Sir Alex Ferguson claims United "have never been interested in a former Inter star".

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed United had "never been interested in former Inter and Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Snyder".

The 134-appearance Dutch international was linked to the move to the Red Devils between 2007 and 2012 at Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Snyder shined during this period, winning the Champions League with Inter Milan at the end of the 2009/10 season.

Despite his constant ties, Ferguson revealed that United never intended to sign the midfielder. On the Ud Podcast, the legendary boss said he didn't know "where [these rumors] came from":

"Well, you mentioned Snyder the boy, which has come up many times, but we've never been interested in Snyder.

"I don't know where that came from, but you get a lot. Every Sunday, in People magazine, when I first came, they kept throwing names, you know. ”

Later in the interview, Ferguson hinted that if Paul Gascoigne joined Manchester United instead of Tottenham Hotspur, he would have had a "better career":

"Actually, you have to say, the only thing that comes to my mind is Gascoin. He's amazing. I think if we get him, his career will be very good, and I really do.

"I'm not saying he has a bad career, but he's going to have a better career here.

"We have Jordy guys on the team, like (Brian) Robson, (Steve) Bruce and Bobby Charlton.

"Sir Bobby would have been a great mentor for him because he was such a wonderful guy, even Gary Pallister, and even though he's from Middlesbrough, I know they're not going to see it as Jody because he doesn't know the culture as well as Gary. He promised to sign for us and I went on vacation.

"I got a call from Martin Edwards (former club president) at the front desk saying he had signed for Tottenham Hotspur.

"He signed to Tottenham Hotspur because they spent £80,000 to buy a house for his mother, honey, I can't believe it, you know. He's a fantastic player. ”
