Special Planning | The 2024 Ram Charan Award for Management Practices unfolds the spectrum of the business world

After an extraordinary 2023, China's economy has ushered in a new start in forging ahead.

In the face of the increasingly complex and severe domestic and foreign environment and many uncertainties, finding new momentum in innovation-driven development is not only the fundamental way out to break through, but also the arduous road that needs to overcome many difficulties.

What is innovation? How to innovate?

Professor Christensen's theory of "disruptive innovation" is probably one of the biggest management theories that have influenced the business world in the past few decades.

While "disruptive innovation" is a popular destination for young entrepreneurs, the concept doesn't just lead to some real innovations, it also brings a lot of other things, such as:

• A lot of non-disruptive innovation is packaged as disruptive innovation; • Many people mistakenly think that innovation is equal to subversion, non-subversion, non-innovation; • The dark side of many disruptive innovations has been overlooked, and it has brought a lot of social trauma to the replacement of existing businesses and jobs.

Innovation is not the same as disruption, and disruption is not the same as innovation.

It's not that disruptive innovation is bad or wrong, it's that it's not the whole truth of the business world. When we open our eyes, free our minds, let go of the obsession with disruptive technological innovation, and expand the broader spectrum of innovation and entrepreneurship, we can build a more win-win, more diverse, and more people are satisfied and dignified.

To this end, the 2024 Ram Charan Management Practice Award has set up a special "Annual Special Award - Non-Disruptive Innovation Practice Award" this year, hoping that the potential of non-disruptive innovation can inspire more outstanding managers and cases.
