On July 4, BYD just ushered in an important milestone, officially announcing the birth of the 8 million new energy vehicles.
From the first car to the 1,000,000th car, it took BYD 13 years.
With the rapid development of the automotive industry, BYD's growth rate has accelerated significantly, from the 1 million to the 5 million in only 2 years and 3 months, and from 5 million to 8 million in only 11 months.
BYD chose the Dolphin model as its 8 millionth new energy vehicle, and this model has performed strongly in the Thai market and has become the main model.
It is reported that the official guide price of the dolphin in the local area is 699999 baht, which is about 139,000 yuan, and the price of the long-range version is 859999 baht, which is about 171,000 yuan.
BYD first launched the ATTO 3 electric vehicle to the Thai market in October 2022 and officially went on sale in November of the same year.
In 2023, BYD will have 30,650 registered and licensed vehicles in Thailand, becoming Thailand's annual pure electric vehicle sales champion with a market share of more than 40%.
From January to May 2024, BYD has a cumulative number of 12,895 vehicles registered in Thailand, with a market share of 40.5% for pure electric vehicles. Among the four best-selling BEV models in Thailand, BYD occupies 3 models.
Wang Chuanfu said that BYD's current share in Thailand's new energy market has reached an astonishing 41%, and one out of every three sold is BYD.
As BYD's Thailand plant is the brand's first wholly-owned overseas passenger car plant, it signed a contract with WHA Group Public Co., Ltd. on September 8, 2022, and is located in an industrial zone in Rayong Province in eastern Thailand, with an investment of 35 billion baht, or about 6.948 billion yuan.
The plant has an annual production capacity of about 150,000 vehicles, covering the production of four major vehicle processes and parts, and is expected to create about 10,000 jobs.
At present, BYD's Thailand plant mainly produces models such as the BYD Dolphin, Seal, and Yuan PLUS (ATTO 3).
In the future, production of the Song PLUS DM-i (Sealion 6) will also be produced. It is worth noting that even the battery cells are currently produced in the Thai factory, which has a positive impact on the local economy and industrial development.
8 million units have arrived, and at the current global rate, the milestone of 10 million units will not be far away, and it is expected to be achieved early next year, so let's look forward to the arrival of the next historical moment.
