In 1992, when I was 15 years old, I was in the second year of junior high school in the township middle school. At that time, I began to write secretly, and other students who loved writing started literary clubs, mimeographed literary journals, and submitted articles to newspapers and periodicals.
I remember that the "Reading for Middle School Students" (junior high school edition) held a "Textual Reflections" essay contest, so I actively prepared and wrote an assignment of "My Views on the Donkey of Qian". Write drafts, transcribe them, and run to the post office to send them. At the time, I didn't expect it to be published, and I quickly forgot about it.
One day a few months later, the old principal of the school, who was in charge of sending and receiving emails, took a brown paper letter and said to me happily: "Let's see, is there anything good about the editorial department of "Reading for Middle School Students?" ”
When the envelope was opened, two new issues of the magazine "Reading for Middle School Students" appeared. I couldn't contain my excitement, and when I looked through the catalog, my name appeared on it. Turning to the text, the call for papers I wrote was revised by the editor and published.
I excitedly told the old principal, "My first work has been published!" ”
I remember that the school held a special assembly for this purpose, praised me, and rewarded me with a notebook and five yuan.
Later, the editorial department also sent the manuscript fee: seven yuan and five cents. When I went to the post office to collect the manuscript fee, the staff all smiled at me.
In the end, the call for papers was awarded the second prize.
It's been more than 30 years, but I still remember it vividly because it was my first published work and I won an award, which was a great inspiration for my later writing.
