What kind of passage is the deep middle channel?

Unravel the mysteries of mega-engineering

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is the core transportation hub project of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a total length of 24 kilometers, integrating "bridges, islands, tunnels and underwater interconnection", and is currently the most difficult cross-sea cluster project in the world. Why is it so "cow"?

Bridge - a number of world bests

Shenzhong Bridge (formerly known as Lingdingyang Bridge), with a total length of 2,826 meters, has set a number of "world's best".

  • With a main span of 1,666 meters, it is the world's largest full-offshore steel box girder suspension bridge.
  • The bridge deck is 91 meters above sea level, equivalent to the height of a 30-story building, and is currently the world's highest navigable sea bridge.
  • At 270 meters high, the main tower is equivalent to the height of a 90-story building, making it the world's tallest bridge in the sea.
  • A single anchorage weighs about 1 million tons, with an area equivalent to 17 international standard basketball courts, making it the largest anchorage in the world.
  • Due to the typhoon-prone area of the Pearl River Estuary, the team developed a new aerodynamic shape to increase the flutter critical wind speed of the long-span monolithic steel box girder suspension bridge to the world's highest 88 m/s, which can withstand a category 17 typhoon.

Island - 4 and a half months to break the world record for rapid island formation

The west artificial island covers an area of about 137,000 square meters, which is equivalent to 19 football fields. Started in December 2016, the west artificial island is the first son of the construction of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Passage on the Lingding Ocean, how to "create something out of nothing" on the vast sea, how to quickly build an artificial island in four and a half months? A video will take you to witness the miracle of "infrastructure".

Tunnel - Needle through the seabed! Complete 32 "Deep Sea Kisses" at the millimeter level

The immersed pipe section of the undersea tunnel of the Shenzhong Passage is composed of 32 pipe sections weighing about 80,000 tons and a final joint. At a depth of more than 30 meters, the 80,000-ton standard immersed tube can achieve millimeter-level docking, which is as difficult as the docking of a manned spacecraft and the "Tiangong" space station.

How do you ensure that these tubes are installed precisely and accurately on the seabed the first time? The Beidou navigation system has contributed a lot.

The Beidou satellite antenna on the ship cooperates with the nearby reference base station to differentially locate the immersed tube, with an accuracy of up to millimeters, and creates a "deep and medium accuracy" of millimeter-level docking of 7 consecutive pipe sections, which far exceeds the error of 5 centimeters required by the design.

Underwater interchange - how to achieve underwater interchange of expressway?

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is a cross-sea cluster project integrating "bridges, islands, tunnels and underwater interconnection". Among them, to realize the "underwater interconnection" function, it is inseparable from the east artificial island and related tunnels.

The East Artificial Island is located on the south side of Shenzhen Bao'an Airport, close to the Fuyong Airport Wharf, connected to the Shenzhen section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Yanjiang Expressway in the east, and connected to the submarine tunnel in the west. How does it realize the conversion of the undersea tunnel to the highways on the road? Poke video ↓
