Wuhan, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The blue background and white lines are 1,150 centimeters long and 35 centimeters wide...... Recently, the Hubei Provincial Electric Power Museum exhibited the "treasure of the town" - the design drawing of the Wuye line, which attracted many visitors.

This is the earliest design map found so far that reflects the construction of Hubei power grid. The map depicts a section of the 66,000-volt transmission line from Wuhan to Daye, originally drawn in 1947.

According to the museum docent, after the drawing was completed, it was still in the conceptual stage and could not be started. It was not until 1949 that after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the construction of the Wuye Line was put on the agenda.

"The central government directly allocated 2.6 million catties of millet as an investment to start the construction of this transmission line project with the highest voltage level and the longest line in the central and southern regions at that time." Yu Tao, director of the Hubei Provincial Electric Power Museum, said that later, the central government invested an additional 306,500 catties of millet for the erection of relevant lines.

Yu Tao introduced that the reason why Xiaomi was used as the unit of calculation of investment was because the price fluctuated from time to time at that time, and it was converted into RMB according to the price of Xiaomi on the day, which was convenient for determining the investment amount. "In the case of a hundred wastes waiting to be rebuilt and very difficult, the direct allocation by the central government shows the importance attached to the Wuye line."

On the winding trails between the valleys stretching from Wuhan to Daye, a construction scene in full swing began.

The sky is bright and the door is standing upright, and the line is still being erected under the moonlight; Dig out the wire holes by hand and carry the thread into the mountain with your shoulder...... From the cold spring to the scorching summer, from the autumn breeze to the cold winter, with the unremitting efforts of the construction team, in November 1950, one month ahead of the planned time, the 66,000-volt Wuye line was successfully completed.

Wuye Line is a starting point of Hubei power network, and since then, Hubei has carried out networking and step-up transformation one after another. Today's Hubei power grid has developed into a large power grid with 500 kV as the backbone, 220 kV as the main body, and 110 kV and below power grid covering the urban and rural areas of the province.

"From planning to landing, this map is a microcosm of New China's efforts to ensure power supply and improve people's livelihood, and we want to tell more people the story behind the cultural relics." Yu Tao said.
