CM Manufacturing participated in the overall upgrading and transformation of the first phase of Nantou Ancient City (Cross Street + Xiji) with the cluster team, and the Qiaojian Nanshan Cultural Center with the current building number NT219 is one of the original design projects of CM Manufacturing. The building is located in Zhongshan East Street of Nantou Ancient City Cross Street, adjacent to the Tongyuan Pavilion - Economic Homogeneity Branch, the Cultural Tongxin Branch Museum to the north of the street, and the Bear Hotel to the south.

The original building is a typical three-storey self-built building in a southern urban village, with an area of 497 m², a brick-concrete structure, the first floor is subleased into a milk tea shop and Hakka snack business, and the second floor is leased, and the landlord's family lives on the third floor. The area of the first floor expands to the edge of the street and lane, and the overall commercial shops of Zhongshan East Street constitute a commercial street, which was "crowned" with a small green tile eaves in the cultural dressing and hat project of the ancient city block ten years ago, which is a poor response to the historical and cultural attributes of the ancient city, and the second and third storey buildings retain the brushed stone materials and wrought iron metal doors and windows that prevailed when they were built in the eighties and nineties of the last century. After the renovation, the first and second floors are for the exhibition function, and the Xin'an County Ya, Baode Ancestral Hall, and Tongyuan Museum Group around Baode Square form part of the historical and cultural output window of East Street. The third floor is still occupied by the landlord.

In the design, according to the functional requirements of the exhibition hall space on the first and second floors and the residential buildings on the third floor, the centimeter manufacturing team arranged two entrances respectively, the entrance of the exhibition hall is facing the main street, and the residential entrance is separated by the external staircase passage on the south side of the building, and the backyard of the building is combined in the secondary street and alley to form a separate exclusive passage. The second and third floors are designed to restore the architectural temperament of the past and the present, and the gray brushed stone walls of the original construction are retained and restored. The façade of the second floor is designed with a single glass sash on the basis of the original window opening, and the neat and trivial façade image faintly hints at the difference in the function of the internal space with the retained three-story residential window sash, presenting a harmonious and different sense of wholeness, and at the same time producing a strong visual contrast with the red ceramic plate façade on the first floor. The original architectural structure is retained in the interior space design of the first and second floors, and a vertically connected staircase is added to connect the functional spaces of the exhibition hall on the two floors.

After the renovation of the Nanshan Cultural Center was completed, it was opened for a period of time as the "Struggle Hall", a cultural exhibition hall for the party and the masses in the ancient city of Nantou, and soon after the new crown epidemic, the internal exhibition was closed, and the functions of temporary nucleic acid testing and quarantine, storage of medical equipment, medical volunteers and quarantine personnel office were used for the medical and epidemic prevention work in the ancient city area.

The NT219 building has a series of functional transformation processes from commercial + residential buildings in the market to Qiaojian Nanshan Cultural Center, which truly records the urban renewal and the sudden arrival of special epidemic events in recent years, and flexibly and successfully fills the lack of urban public welfare space. From the moment the renovation was completed and opened to the public, it witnessed the gorgeous transformation of the ancient city/village into a cultural, artistic and fashionable commercial district in the Greater Bay Area. Will the building space be transformed into commercial, research and education or performance possibilities in the future? Perhaps it is precisely this uncertainty that conveys that the stock of urban space will be renewed in the future, which is complex and diverse, flexible and changeable.
