Sensa said the Ministry of Tourism and Sports' target for Thailand's tourism industry this year is to generate 3.5 trillion baht in revenue, which requires further development of 11 sectors in the soft power sector to achieve the goal of building sustainable tourism. Phetchaburi is one of the most important provinces with a high soft power base, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will coordinate with relevant departments to increase the number of local tourists to more than 10 million per year, generating more than 35 billion baht of annual revenue.
At the same time, Sensa also ordered the Office of the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports and the National Tourism Administration to jointly promote Phetchaburi tourist attractions to increase the local awareness among Thai-foreign tourists. and ordering the integration and coordination of the departments responsible for tourism tasks with local authorities to support and develop tourism infrastructure to meet the needs of attractions.
It is understood that from January to March 2024, Phetchaburi received a total of 2,989,129 tourists, including 2,920,517 Thai tourists and 68,612 foreign tourists. Tourist revenue reached 9.537 billion baht, of which 9.060 billion baht was generated by Thai tourists and 468 million baht by foreign tourists.
