After Mr. Gengsang settled in the mountain village, he set about rectifying a group of male servants and maidservants brought from his hometown in Jiangnan.

The manservants, who were clever and clever, were all repatriated. The maidservants and maidservants who showed good fortune were all married out of the mountains. Those who stay by their side to do housework are nothing more than stupid heads. Those who were sent to the fields to do farm work were all clumsy. This incident spread in the mountains and became a laughing stock for conversation.

Three years later, a miracle occurred, and an unprecedented harvest of various crops in the mountainous area of Weilei was unprecedented. The people of the mountain village went to the door to chat, and they all said: "When Mr. Gengsang first came, we laughed at him and treated him as a strange person. For a short time, I didn't realize what he was doing. After a long time, everyone realized that he was a true spirit, and he was simply a living saint today! Why don't we discuss it, build a shrine for him, set up a tablet, and enshrine him!"

Hearing that the people wanted to support him to sit in the north and face south, rule the mountain village, and be a small leader, Mr. Gengsang felt uneasy. A group of his students, who were already very fast, were surprised to see him uneasy and demanded an explanation.

Mr. Gengsang said: "What is there to be surprised about, you are still my students. The spring breeze rises, and the grass grows. Autumn crops are ripe, and ten thousand seeds are formed. When spring goes to autumn and autumn comes, is it not that we will gain nothing? The crops are abundant, and that is the way of nature at work, what do you worship me. I don't know if I should build an ancestral temple for a saint. I only know that the super saints, that is, the supreme people, are surrounded by mud walls, and live in seclusion in mud houses, not to decide for anyone, and let the people do whatever they want, free and debauched. Now, the ant people of the mountain are chattering behind their backs saying that I am a sage, and they want to worship me, prostrate in the morning and dusk, and sacrifice in spring and autumn.

Oh my God, am I the target they worship! As soon as I thought of Lao Dan's teachings, I was restless. ”

One student said, "No. The river is too narrow, and it is difficult for big fish to turn around, and they can't fight rotten loaches. The mountain is too short, and it is difficult for the big beast to hide, and it can't fight the fox spirit. If the political treatment is too low, the adults will be bullied by the villains. Therefore, it is better to accept worship and King's Landing in the mountain village. Besides, respecting virtuous and virtuous people, appointing capable people, praising good people, and rewarding clever people have been done in this way since ancient times Yao Ye and Shun Ye, can the people of Weilei Mountain not do the same? Let it be, teacher. ”

Mr. Gengsang said, "Come near, young man, and hear clearly. There are big beasts with carts in the high mountains, running down the plains, and they are inevitably caught by hunting nets. In deep water, there are big fish that swallow boats, and they jump on the embankment and cannot escape the bite of ants. Therefore, the beasts are not too high in the mountains, and the fish are not too deep in the water. Cultivators who save their lives and maintain their health hide themselves, not because of the great social distance and because the political treatment is too low, and that's it. ”

Mr. Gengsang also said: "You just mentioned Yao Shun, and those two guys are not worthy of praise.

Doing things according to Yao Shun's standards of right and wrong is tantamount to tearing down the courtyard wall, destroying the home, and overgrowing the barren grass in the court. They are ridiculously serious, their hair must be selected and combed one by one, the rice grains must be counted one by one and then cooked, and this one straight and that one curved, this one big and that one small, so that society can be saved? The official call for the election of virtuous and virtuous people to determine who should be honored and who should be praised, and the people will be intrigued. When the Upper Peak announced that he would identify the talents and dexterity to determine who should be appointed and who should be rewarded, the following would be a fraud. Respecting virtue, appointing talents, praising kindness, and rewarding cleverness cannot make people's hearts pure. Where the benefits are, you don't have to mobilize, people are swarming up, fighting and grabbing, the son dares to kill the father, the minister dares to kill the king, the day dares to rob, and the sun dares to dig holes in the wall. Young man, listen to me, the world is in chaos, and Yao Shun is the bane. That set of plays will never be broken, and the tragedy will be far away in 3,000 years! Three thousand years later, scramble, grab and eat human flesh!"

Mr. Gengsang predicted that there would be a catastrophe of cannibalism in the future, and all the students present were shocked when they heard it. Everyone is silently calculating that it has been nearly 2,000 years since the Yao Shun era, and the so-called 3,000 years will be another 1,000 years, and it is almost here. The classroom was silent, as if listening to the sound of cannibalism with its spiritual ears. Mr. Gengsang did not let the students reverie and asked them to discuss what he had just said: "Monks hide themselves."

At this time, an older student, surnamed Nan Rong and his first name, sat with his chest upright and said with a nervous expression: "People like me, who are old enough and have little time left, what are the key points to grasp in order to meet the teacher's requirements and hide themselves?"

Mr. Gengsang said: "Keep your duty, save your life, don't think hard and get dizzy." Persistence in three years can achieve the requirements. ”

Nan Rongchou said: "They are all human eyes, there is no difference in shape, ordinary people can see, blind people can see it." They are all human ears, and there is no difference in shape, ordinary people can hear, but deaf people can hear but not hear. It's all human hearts, there is no difference in shape, ordinary people can think, fools can't think, they are all human bodies, they have eyes, ears and hearts, and the shapes are similar enough, maybe there is an obstacle in my body, I want to ask for advice and get nothing. The teacher told me to keep my duty and save my life, and not to think hard and get dizzy. I've finally listened, and that's it. ”

Mr. Gengsang said, "I'm done. A couple of digressions. The slender-waisted bee can catch the small mulberry worm back and turn it into a larvae, but it cannot turn the fat and large [worm] worm into a larvae. The small breeders of the Yue country cannot hatch swan eggs, but the large breeders of the Lu country can. They are all hens, there is no difference in morality, Lu chicken can, more chicken can't, different body sizes. I'm too young to incubate you, sorry. Why don't you go south to the Central Plains and meet Lao Tzu?"

Nan Rongchou carried a bag of rations, went down to Weilei Mountain, walked to Luoyang for six days and seven nights, found Lao Tzu in the Central Library, and handed over a letter of introduction.

Lao Tzu said, "Are you from Gengsang Chu?"

Nan Rongchou said, "Yes." ”

Lao Tzu said, "Why did you bring a group of people?"

Nan Rongchou looked back in shock, and there was no one behind him.

Lao Tzu said, "You still don't understand what I mean, do you?"

Nan Rongchou lowered his head, ashamed of not understanding. After a moment, he raised his head and sighed, saying, "I don't know how to answer now, and my heart is so anxious that I can't remember the question I had prepared." ”

Lao Tzu said, "What are you going to ask?"

Nan Rongchou said: "I remembered. Clever and internal, others laugh at me for being a stupid pig; Clever and exposed, but afraid of being smart and mistaken. cruelty and inhumanity will inevitably hurt good people; Benevolence is also self-sacrificing. Slippery and unjust, affecting interpersonal relationships; To stress righteousness and anger is not good for oneself. There are dangers on both the left and right, where am I going to flee? These three pairs of contradictions really kill me. For Gengsangchu's sake, help me. ”

Lao Tzu said, "At first, I saw your eyebrow padlock, and I guessed you came with a bunch of questions. Now that you've talked about it, it really is. Look at you like you, lonely, like a child who can't find his parents and goes down to the sea with a bamboo pole to catch them. Confused, you runaway prodigal son! You want to return to your nature, but you can't find your way, it's pathetic!"

Nan Rongchou asked to stay in the museum for a while, so as to clear his thoughts, criticize benevolence and righteousness, eliminate wisdom, and find his nature, and Lao Tzu allowed it.

After staying for ten days, Nan Rongchou felt that if he did not solve the problem, the three pairs of contradictions still made people very miserable, so he went to see Lao Tzu again.

Lao Tzu said, "You are taking a bath, and your whole body is steaming!" But there's still dirt in my heart. People are bound by mundane affairs, don't dwell on them, please keep your mind quiet, and it will be easy to deal with. People have vulgar thoughts bound to their hearts, don't dwell on them, please keep your body free, and it will be easy to deal with. What I am afraid of is that my body and mind are fettered, and I will attack inside and outside, and there will be no room for maneuver. When encountering internal and external attacks, those who have attained the Tao can't parry, let alone take a detour, how can he deal with it. ”

Nan Rongchou said: "One person is sick, and the neighbors are sympathetic. The patient complains of illness and admits to being ill. This proves that he is sick in body and free in heart. My heart is free from the fetters of vulgar thoughts, so my heart is not sick. If you preach to me, you will pour me a soup of medicine, and you will only add to your sickness. I just want to cure my body and listen to you talk about hygiene, that's all. ”

Lao Tzu said: "Common sense of hygiene? I'm going to ask you first. Can you maintain the pure oneness of mind? Can you not lose your nature? Is it possible to foresee good fortune and evil without divination? Can you keep your duty? Can you get rid of it, can you not rely on others, and realize it yourself? Can you abandon benevolence and righteousness and be chic? Can you forget your ingenuity and honesty? Can it wash away the pollution of human hypocrisy and return to the innocence of infancy? The baby cries all day long, and his throat is not hoarse, because he is completely instinctive, and he is very harmonious. The baby clenches into fists all day long, and the palms of the hands are not spasmed, because this is already the case in the mother's womb. Young babies stare all day long, their eyes do not blink, because the heart is not external, only to look and do not want to. Let's learn the virtues of young babies, go out There is no fixed purpose, there is no fixed task to sit down, and there is no fixed task to respond to society and follow the trend. These are all common sense. ”

Nan Rongchou said: "In this way, stressing hygiene is also cultivating morality and becoming a person, right?"

Lao Tzu said, "No. Thousands of miles of river water, once thawed, just talk about it. Do you think it's so easy to cultivate morality? To the people to dissolve the small self into the big self, to mix with the common people, to pray for the land to give food, to pray for the emperor to grant happiness, and to ask for nothing else. He is not involved in interpersonal disputes, social conflicts, and any disputes between interests and losses. He is unconventional, makes suggestions, and starts a business, and he does not participate in any of them. Walk away in style, regardless of benevolence and righteousness. Honest and honest, not with any ingenuity. That's what I'm going to talk about hygiene. ”

Nan Rongchou said: "In this way, the cultivation of virtue will end here? Really?"

Lao Tzu said, "It's not over." As I told you, can you wash away the pollution of human hypocrisy and return to the innocence of infancy? Look at a young baby, stretching out his hands and feet and not knowing what to do, crawling around and not knowing where to go, his body is like an autumn tree without leaves and without wind, and his heart is like a cold stove without smoke and without fire. If you can do this, you will be free from both good and evil, and forget both gains and losses, how can society harm you? ”

With a calm mind and a calm mind, there is a spiritual cover body. Spiritual light is natural light and is invisible to the naked eye. A cultivator with a spiritual light cover can see people and things clearly. Only by attaining excellent results in the monastic path can it maintain the long-term stability of the aura. The enlightened person who has attained enlightenment for a long time and has been stable for a long time, everyone depends on him for shelter, and nature has given him miraculous powers. As far as the people rely on him for shelter, let him be called the people of the universe; As far as nature has given him miraculous powers, he might as well be called the son of the universe.

Fourth, please stop when you walk to the edge of the circle

Everyone has their own circle of learning. Academic ability is not unlimited, and the skills outside the circle are not mastered by oneself. The so-called learning, the world thinks that it is to master the skills that they are unable to master.

Each person has his own circle of competence. Ability is not unlimited, and tasks outside the circle are beyond one's own power. The so-called ability, the world thinks that it is to cross the circle to undertake tasks that they are unable to undertake.

Each person has his own circle of awareness. Awareness is not infinite, and the aosecond outside the circle is beyond one's own ability to understand. The so-called perception is thought by the world to go beyond the circle to understand the mystery that they are unable to understand.

Abide by his duty, go to the edge of the circle and stop, and know that the world outside the circle will never be knowable, undoable, and unseek, and he will be just right, very good. If you don't keep your duty, you rush out in stride, and you lose in the circle, that's inevitable.

Prepare supplements to calm the body. Put aside your thoughts in order to cultivate your mind. Respect yourself and thus understand others. If you do these three things, you will be safe. If there are still strange disasters and flying disasters that crash into the door one after another, it is destiny, and it is no wonder that you are no wonder. You have done your best, and you have done nothing wrong, so external calamities are not enough to change your established beliefs. No matter how many disasters there are, you don't take them to heart. The heart, the observatory in your breast, sees all things in the universe. With faith as a pillar and a high platform, you will not be able to collapse by disasters and disasters. You believe in inaction, so you don't feel that there is faith to support it, which is the support of non-support.

If you are always deceitful and deceitful, you will also have to start a business with your hands and feet, and you will inevitably mess around. When the cause is started, the power is available, the profit is profitable, and the obsessed with it, messing around every day, refusing to rest, and in the end only leaving behind a bad record. The bad deeds are clear, they have been exposed publicly, and they are hated by everyone. Disciplinary punishment will be brought to justice. If you are deceived and you can't deceive the ghost, the ghost will try to settle accounts with him, and there will be retribution. Only those who are transparent in their behavior, who can see people during the day, who are not afraid of ghosts knocking on the door at night, and who are worthy of their hearts, are qualified to be independent and responsible and take on heavy responsibilities.

Keep your duty, your eyes will naturally look inward (chan1), and you don't care about fame in doing things. If you try to do nothing, your eyes will covet outward, and you will be bent on profit. A person who does not care about fame in doing things is a cultivator who often has a spiritual light covering body, observes the state of the world, and understands it clearly. The person who is intent on making profits is a trader, and you can see the greed on his tiptoe and his face sticking out his neck, and he has to show off widely. A cultivator does not care about fame, but his mind must be empty and tolerant of all things. If a trader wants to make a profit, he will inevitably behave shamelessly, and he will not even tolerate his own dignity, so how can he tolerate others. No one can be tolerated, and even the six relatives will not recognize it. The six relatives did not recognize each other and became a loner. Fierce in heart, hurting others, cruel is better than the edge of the sword. Yin and yang are out of balance, joy and anger are out of control, and you are cheap, so that you have nowhere to run for your life, and the danger is better than the pressure of a strong enemy. Don't resent yin and yang, the two qi are too ruthless, only blame you for trying to do nothing, your eyes are covetous, your heart is fierce, you only know how to fight, fight!

The Tao is universal, and the law is everywhere. Let's take a certain gong as an example to see how the law works. The fall of the past was the beginning of his rise, and today's success is the beginning of his fall. When he was poor, he complained, because he had been rich and expensive before he was poor. When he is rich, he complains even more, because after he is rich, he still wants to be rich and rich. Sleepless nights, soulless. When he went out to hell, he was all a victim of his men. Plotting every day, when the time is finally ripe, he breaks down the door, throws a bet, and wins on the spot. When he went home and looked closely, he won a death notice of his own. For those like him who tried to enter in vain, his nature has long since been extinguished, but he is left with a shell, not a human being, but a living ghost. The living ghosts are restless and scurrying around. Only by learning the invisible way through visible people can we have stability.

8. The Gate of Nature

Where does the space come from? Where is the time?

Space exists, and places where there is no visible existence.

Time continues, and the process of continuity cannot be seen.

I don't know where I came from, but I should have a place to come from. A place where there is no visible existence, existence is still there.

I don't know where to go, there should always be somewhere to go. The process of continuity cannot be seen, and the continuation continues.

Space exists, and places where there is no visible existence. Space is the universe.

Time continues, and the process of continuity cannot be seen. Time is the universe.

The unity of space and time is the universe.

The universe has a door, from there to be born, to die there, from there to exit, to there in. But when he saw that all things were born and died, they did not know where the door was, or what shape it was. Mysterious, it is the gate of nature, insignificant, empty, invisible, intangible, absolutely nothing. All things come from nothingness. Existence cannot be created by its existence, everything can only come from nothingness, absolute nothingness. The saint is based on nothingness and concentrates on the Tao.

In ancient times, many wise men meditated on the origin of the world and had their own experiences. Some people think of the time before the birth of the universe and say that it was empty and chaotic. This has reached the limit of meditation, it has reached its peak, it is impossible to go beyond it. Others only think about the birth of the universe, saying that at that time all things came into being, people came into being, and cognitive activity took place. At that time, people believed that living was exile, and when they died, they were returning to their hometown, and there was a difference between life and death. There are also monks who believe that before the birth of the universe there was only nothingness, and that human beings came later. Life is short, and death comes suddenly. The monks declared: "If nothingness is the head of man, survival is the backbone, and death is the tail." Nothingness begins, survival continues, death ends, and it is a series of its own. Life and death are inherently one thing. This is our view of life and death. Anyone who holds this view is our fellow Taoist. ”

The above three schools, the first two schools of wise men and the latter school of monks, each expressed different contents, but in terms of their tendencies, they are obviously of the same origin. These three factions are like the three surnames of Zhaojingqu of the Chu royal family, all of which are descendants of the same ancestor. Zhaojing's second surname is an official and enjoys the honor of the crown. The fief surnamed Qu has a solid root. The two schools of wisdom are equivalent to the second surname of Zhaojing, and the other school of monks is equivalent to the surname Qu, and the difference lies here.

You have a black mole on your face, and you categorically order: "Get rid of the stain!" Thinking that black moles are stains, they provoke a dispute between beauty and ugliness. If the controversy between right and wrong is triggered, society will not be able to stabilize. You tell the stain to get rid of it, and it's just talking, not giving a formal order. However, whether the mole is a stain or not, and whether the stain should be rolled away, only God knows.

Every year, the public slaughters cattle and sacrifices to the gods, and stipulates that all animals must be used. The stomach organs that are not suitable for eating, and the hooves that cannot be eaten, must be kept intact before they can be regarded as complete animals. At the ritual, can you order the belly and hooves to get out of the way?

Looking at the palace, after seeing the palace, after looking at the bedroom, your bladder is distended, fortunately you meet the toilet, the atmosphere in the palace is solemn, and the toilet is not coordinated. Can you order the toilet to get out of the way?

To cite the above two examples, please consider whether the stain should be rolled away.

Let me say a few more words about the stain getting away. The stain is innate, the root is in the person to live, to learn wisdom as a teacher, to grow up, so that people rise up the concept of right and wrong. Everyone is self-centered. Follow the name and be responsible, and be demanding of others, so the battle between right and wrong is endless. Some fools insist that everyone admit that he has good morals, and they do not hesitate to die to prove that they are genuine and have no stain. The same is true of public opinion, who is popular, who is wise, who is moldy, who is stupid, who is rich, who is glorious, and who is poor, who is disgraced. The wise men and monks of ancient times, forgetting what is right and wrong, there is no question of whether there is a stain or not. Want to fight the stain? Modern people are ridiculous like small insects and small finches in the forest, with shallow knowledge and lifelong ignorance.

If you step on someone in the market by mistake, you have to say, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me for not being careless. "I stepped on my brother at home, I don't have to say I'm sorry, please forgive me, yo is enough. stepped on my father, and it was most appropriate not to say a word, so the true etiquette does not have to be seen, and the vulgar etiquette is a fake posture. By analogy, it can be seen that the true meaning is divided into one piece, and the common meaning is clearly demarcated; True wisdom does not need to be considered, but common wisdom is intriguing and intriguing; True benevolence does not love or kiss, and vulgar benevolence is kind; True faith does not guarantee, common faith pays a deposit first.

Wake up, confusion of ambition. Liberate, inner entanglement. Wash it off, the pollution of temperament, knock it away, the obstruction of monasticism.

Noble body, rich family, prominent position, prestige, good name, and great profit, these six evils confuse your ambition.

Manners, actions, complexion, eloquence, radiance, and spirit, these six evils entangle your heart.

Hatred, love, joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness pollute your temperament.

Avoidance, accommodation, progress, charity, wisdom, and energy are the six evils that hinder your path.

Don't stir up the above four, six, and twenty-four evils, and your chest will be right. When it's right, it's quiet. When you are quiet, you will understand. Understood is vanity. If it is empty, it will do nothing, and it will not cause trouble. If you do nothing and do nothing, and if you don't create trouble, everything will be easy to do.

Tao is the externalization of virtue, omnipresent, and ever-present.

Zhide is invisible. The light of virtue illuminates the universe, which is the phenomenon of all kinds of life. The essence of the phenomenon of life is nature, that is, the nature of nature's endowment. The dynamic of nature is for, which is to act in accordance with nature, not to act against nature. To act against nature is to create an incident. Man-made is hypocritical, and it is bad. The world has lost its way, worked hard to be hypocritical, and was not aware of its mistakes, so it was really wrong.

Coming into contact with nature and society, having a sense of knowledge, being aware of something, and accumulating it is knowledge. Knowledge is wisdom when it is used in strategy. The wise man squinted his eyes and looked crookedly, but he could not see the front, did not notice it, so he eventually failed.

In the world of virtue, there is no need to take any action, and everyone lives happily. Descending to a virtuous world, the situation has changed, and it is not possible to take no action. Taking action, it's not that I want to create an incident, it's really a last resort, and this is the so-called virtue. Taking action is my idea, and I am responsible, and this is the so-called cure. There is no self in morality, and there is me in seeking treatment, which is the opposite, but in fact, it is complementary.

Yi is a sharpshooter, shooting a small finch in a hundred steps, hitting a shot, and the audience applauds. Even if he missed, the audience applauded, saying that he intended to release him. He could not make the viewer applaud, which was the incompetence of the archers.

The saints remain naïve, do not engage in hypocrisy, and govern the world with a political program that goes with the flow. The world is under great rule, the people sing praises of virtue, and people worship him hypocritically. Even if he was at fault, the people sang the praises, saying that he was not responsible. He could not make the people worship him hypocritically, which was the incompetence of the saints.

Not only can he always maintain his innocence, forget his hypocrisy, not govern the world, and let the world be autonomous, but also make the people not aware of his merits, and still less worship him.

Human beings have studied birds, beasts, insects and fish, and have mastered the nature of birds, beasts, insects and fish. However, it is impossible for man to reproduce the nature of birds, beasts, insects, and fish with himself. Only the beast is the most beastly, and man cannot be a beast. Only insects are the most insects, and people can't insects. Only fish are the most fishy, and people can't fish. In short, only birds, beasts, insects, and fish can best fully reflect their respective natures, and human hypocrisy cannot simulate innocence. Perfect man has no interest in studying the problems of nature, including human nature, but just leaves it to nature. What's more, we people are naïve? Are people fake? It's not clear, and you're still qualified to study nature?

Yi shoots beasts in the wilderness, and there are small finches that dare to fly into the range circle, and they must be shot to death. Otherwise, it will damage the prestige of the archers. Yi, little overlord, I don't know anything, so that's it. There are those shrewd rulers, who do not live up to the majesty in front of them, who know how to weave the world into a giant cage, so that all birds, from eagle eagles to small birds, can not escape.

You see, the shrewd king of Shang Tang, once he found out that his slave Yi Yin was well versed in politics and loved cooking, he promoted him to be in charge of the imperial diet, and used the kitchen as a cage to keep him from fleeing to the enemy.

Later, he was put in charge of the country, put in a giant cage, and served faithfully for my use. Looking at the shrewd Qin Mugong again, he heard that there was a fugitive prisoner of war named Baili Xi, who was well versed in strategy and was detained in the Chu State, so he bought him back with five sheepskins and asked him to serve the Qin State and help him succeed in the hegemony. The five sheepskins are also cages, and they are raised for my use.

Birdmen are natural to fly. You obey his nature in a giant cage, and you're not going to have to. If you rebel against his nature with a bow and arrow, and he flapps his wings and flies away, you won't be able to control it.

When a person is tortured, he has a kick cut off, and he breaks a jar and breaks it, and he is too lazy to obey the law. He doesn't care if others say it's good or bad.

When people are persecuted and beaten as untouchables, what is this life worth, and they are not afraid to climb the cliff. It doesn't matter if he is dead or alive in front of him.

Such a prisoner, such a pariah, gradually reached the realm of selflessness. No matter how much you bluff, he doesn't react, as if you don't exist. Forget me, forget people, he is going to become an immortal. The state of mind of the immortal reflects the harmony of the universe, respecting him and disliking him, and provoking him and not angering. There are, of course, exceptions. In order to remain unangry, sometimes we have to get angry, and this anger also comes from the state of non-anger, just as in order to achieve non-action, sometimes we have to do things, and this is also out of non-action.
