The United States and the Philippines keep mentioning the so-called "U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty," in effect, they want to say that if a conflict breaks out between China and the Philippines, then the United States may be involved.
Once the United States is involved, it may turn into a contest between China and the United States, which is actually an attempt to deter China with the powerful military power of the US Navy in a vain attempt to pressure China to acquiesce in the provocation of the Philippines.
The targeted exercises in the PLA's Southern Theater are a clear reminder to them, not to mention that the United States may not really dare to do it at a critical moment, and even if it does, what can it do? With the strength of the PLA Navy today, it can really be said that it is not afraid of any invading enemy in China's vicinity, and the US Navy must first weigh the weight before planning to make a move.
Of course, given that China and the United States are both nuclear-armed powers, and that the United States is not sure of winning against China at all, the probability of a conflict actually breaking out is relatively small, at least the probability of the United States directly participating is very small.

In short, at a time when the Philippines is bent on provocation and the United States is deliberately trying to undermine relations between China and Southeast Asian countries, China has actively engaged in in-depth and frequent foreign exchanges with other ASEAN countries other than the Philippines, and has done everything possible to maintain peace and tranquility in the region and prevent the United States from succeeding in its conspiracy to provoke bloc confrontation in the region.
If the Philippines and the United States dare to extend a black hand, then the PLA will naturally have the ability to cut off the black hand and safeguard national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.

At the same time, the situation of peace and stability in the South China Sea should also be maintained. For now, China still maintains a high degree of restraint and still leaves room for the Philippines, while actively improving relations with other ASEAN countries.
In fact, this is to ensure that even if they really can't bear it anymore and take action against the Philippines, the rest of the ASEAN countries will still have their hearts set on China, oppose US interference in regional affairs, and oppose undermining peace in the region.
The so-called need to grasp both military and diplomatic affairs with both hands and to be firm in both hands is the true wisdom of China's diplomatic strategy.
