introduction

In recent years, with the rapid development of spinal endoscopy technology, people's understanding of the concept of spinal endoscopy has also deepened. Traditional uniaxial endoscopy can be thought of as meeting the visualization needs of interventional procedures. Subsequently, when we wanted to use the endoscope to enter the spinal canal directly through the intervertebral foramen for decompression maneuvers, the TESS technique came into being. On this basis, the fully visual endoscopic technology that has emerged and is currently recognized by everyone changes the surgical operation thinking to "from the outside to the inside, entering layer by layer, and the whole process is visible", which is consistent with the operation sequence of our traditional spine surgery, which means that we can use endoscopy to replicate and complete more conventional surgeries of spine surgery, which is "endoscopy of spine surgery".

Based on this concept, spinal endoscopy has been rapidly applied to posterior decompression surgery of the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine, as well as lumbar interbody fusion surgery. However, when using traditional single-axis endoscopes to replicate and complete these spine surgeries, people find that the convenience of operation, the efficiency of the instruments, and the safety of the operation are limited, which requires the improvement of the original endoscopic system or the design of a new endoscopic system or even the endoscopic mode to meet the above needs, which we call "the surgical of spinal endoscopic tools". Based on this concept, we designed and developed a V-shaped dual-channel spine endoscopy (VBE) system, and proposed to use this system to complete endoscopic TLIF surgery (VBE-TLIF), and follow-up studies found that it can achieve similar clinical efficacy to MIS-TLIF, but it is more minimally invasive and has a faster postoperative recovery.

summary

Based on the concepts of "endoscopy of spine surgery" and "surgery of spine endoscopic tools", the VBE endoscopic system and VBE-TLIF technology came into being, and the two surgical approaches have their own advantages. I hope that interested colleagues will participate in improving and perfecting this technology, and work together to benefit more patients and promote the independent innovation of minimally invasive spine in China!
