Recently, politicians and media in some Western developed economies have been playing up the so-called "theory of China's overcapacity", claiming that Chinese government subsidies have caused overcapacity in new energy fields such as electric vehicles. Xiao Xinjian said that in fact, the mainland's green and low-carbon products are to meet the needs of people around the world for a better life. China's green and low-carbon products have played an important role in the global energy transition and response to global climate change, and the development of China's green and low-carbon industries will continue to contribute to the world. For example, the supply of high-quality and low-cost green and low-carbon products such as electric vehicles in China is beneficial to Western consumers, helps the United States and the European Union to transition to a green economy, and makes it affordable for many developing countries, contributing to the response to global climate change and the construction of a green and low-carbon economic system.
Secondly, theoretically and practically, "China's overcapacity" is a false proposition. Recently, the United States and the West have hyped up China's "overcapacity", which theoretically violates the international trade norms of economic globalization. Xiao Xinjian mentioned that in reality, in recent years, the capacity utilization rate of large new energy vehicle enterprises in mainland China is basically about 80%, which is at the normal capacity utilization level.
At the same time, Xiao Xinjian said that the accusation of "overcapacity" in China deeply reflects the logical defects of the United States and the West. "If we follow the definition and standard of the United States and the West to criticize China, many data will show that the United States has excess capacity, reflecting the 'double standard values' of the United States and the West." Xiao Xinjian pointed out that attacking China's "export of excess capacity" negates the principle of comparative advantage in Western economics, is an excuse for the United States and the West to implement trade protection measures, and reflects the trend of anti-globalization thinking. China's new energy vehicles have been attacked for breaking the market and profits of fuel vehicles monopolized by the United States and the West for a long time, reflecting the hegemonic thinking of the United States and the West. In addition, the United States does not dare to admit that it has lagged behind on the track of electric vehicles and solar panels, let alone the advantages of China's socialist market economy and China's system, and exaggerates "China's overcapacity", which deeply reflects its lack of confidence in its own economic and social development and its anxiety about to lose its hegemony.
