In March 2023, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles approved the establishment of the second batch of practice bases for the "Literature and Art and New Innovation" agglomeration area. Guangzhou Animation Creation Research Center was successfully selected and won the honor of "national brand", and it is also one of the first bases in the province to receive this honor. Under the leadership of the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, relying on the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association, the center is committed to the cultivation of emerging creative talents in animation art, with the goal of "creating a home for animation masters", and with the mission of expanding the offline creative space of new literary and artistic organizations and new literary and artistic groups, and enhancing the cohesion and effect of "literary and artistic bonds".
Recently, the fourth issue of the "Work Newsletter of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles" of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles in 2024 published an experience exchange article of the center: "The Practice Base of the "Literature and Art" Cluster Area (Guangzhou) of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles: Closely follow the pulse of the times and strive to create a highland for the creation of "Literature and Art" animation art", which is now reprinted for readers.
In order to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping's cultural thought and focus on the core task of "being a human being", in 2023, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles "Literature and Art" Cluster Area (Guangzhou) Practice Base (hereinafter referred to as the Base) will unite and lead the "Literature and Art and Two New" on the important agenda, and through in-depth investigation and research, it has actively explored in innovating working mechanisms, expanding organizational coverage, strengthening education and training, building service platforms, and strengthening industry construction. With the goal of building "one highland and three platforms", the base unites and leads the "two new literary and artistic" talents in the animation field, and on the basis of the principle of non-profit public welfare, actively carries out creative research, academic exchanges, in-depth life collection, foreign exchanges, organization of publicity and display and other business work, assists in the evaluation of the professional titles of new literary and artistic groups, does a solid job in the "two new in literature and art" service rights protection, promotes the new improvement of the service management level of "two new in literature and art", and creates services to guide the creation, display, and A new platform for communication.
1. Promote development through party building,
Leading the high-quality development of the center
Adhering to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and closely focusing on the mission and task of "raising the banner, gathering the hearts of the people, educating new people, revitalizing culture, and displaying the image", the base relies on the advantages of rich cultural resources in Guangzhou, and through the organizational strength and influence of the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association, unites the animation art workers of "literature and art", promotes the creative transformation and innovative development of Lingnan's excellent traditional culture in an art form that the people like to see, and builds an animation art brand in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to provide strong support for the convergence of "literary and new" animation forces. According to the work plan, the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association, and the Guangzhou Animation Art Creation Base jointly set up a management committee, and the daily operation is led by the office, the creation and research department, and the liaison department, and establishes a normalized working mechanism, compacts responsibilities, and improves the daily management rules and regulations of the base.
2. Actively organize creative activities,
Strive to create a highland for animation art creation of "literature and art".
The first is to hold a series of activities of the "Second National Illustration Support Program (CIAC)" to increase the support for the creation of "literature and art". The base will take the "2nd National Illustration Support Program (CIAC)" as the key work of this year. The event was launched in March 2023, lasted half a year to solicit papers, and after nearly 3 months of strict review, judges and teachers with outstanding achievements and influence in the fields of illustration, animation, publishing, mainstream media and other fields in the world and China selected the submitted works respectively, and finally determined 160 shortlisted works (the shortlisting rate was about 4.2%), and a total of 58 award-winning works (the winning rate was about 1.6%). Since the launch of the event, it has received wide attention from the global illustration community, and the call for papers has been forwarded by the domestic mainstream art media, and the global Chinese illustrator artists and learners have actively submitted their papers. Among the award-winning works, there are a large number of national style works rooted in the excellent traditional Chinese culture, realistic works that praise the good life of the masses, and many young "literary and new" illustrators who submitted for the first time won the honor of being shortlisted in the event, and received more attention from the masses and the media, and they expressed their encouragement and excitement.
The second is to promote the theme creation of the Maritime Silk Road and create a highland for animation art creation of "literature and art". In order to create a highland for the creation of "literary and artistic" animation art, the base vigorously supports the creative talents of "literary and artistic innovation" to carry out high-quality creation. In 2023, the base will focus on supporting the creation of the "Maritime Silk Road" project. The project is led by Chen Dong, director of the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association and representative of the young artists of the "Literature and Art", with a 10-meter-long scroll to show the magnificent history of Guangzhou as an important stop on the Maritime Silk Road.
The third is to carry out a series of activities to popularize science and public education in animation and illustration art to improve the professional level of "literature and art". Relying on the JC Animation Museum under the Guangzhou Animation Artists Association and the physical venue of the "Home of Animation Masters", the base actively cooperates with Guangzhou Library and other public welfare cultural units, and organizes a total of 5 animation illustration art science popularization and public education series activities this year, namely: "It turns out that Guangzhou can 'read' like this" workshop, "Illustration Point, Line, Surface" lecture, "Humanities and History Behind Animation" lecture, Chinese style illustration creation talk talk, why illustration is fascinating talk talk, about 500 animation illustration field Literature and art" participated.
The fourth is to carry out external promotion, display and exchange cooperation, and build a platform for the exchange of "literature and art" animation art. The base gives full play to the advantages of the "National Illustration Support Program", and strives to build Guangzhou into a national center and distribution center for illustration art creation, so that illustration art can be integrated into the construction of urban spiritual civilization. The selected works have been put into use in public service advertisements, tourist information points, and subway advertisements in Guangzhou, and the works have also been recommended by the base to participate in the 19th World Comics Convention, providing more opportunities and platforms for international animation art exchanges.
On August 16, 2023, under the guidance of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism and the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the base participated in the "From a Paper to the Metaverse - The Smurfs 65th Anniversary Special Exhibition" held a celebration event in the Hanmo Garden of the Guangzhou Cultural Center. Diplomatic envoys from nearly 20 countries, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Greece, Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, Peru, Angola, Ghana, Venezuela and Uganda, were invited to the event and gathered with Chinese and foreign artists, literary and artistic figures. The special exhibition opened on August 4, 2023, attracting many citizens, tourists and anime lovers who came to visit and check in. The special exhibition starts with "The Song of the Smurfs" and follows the design of "From a Piece of Paper to the Metaverse" by Studio Beyo, showing the "famous scenes" of the Smurfs in the 65 years since their birth through 36 beautifully distributed independent chapters. Visitors can not only relive "The Smurfs' Song", but also review the creation story of "The Smurfs' father" Beyo, and the audience's growing enthusiasm has also made the exhibition extended again and again.
3. Constantly innovate ways and means,
Enrich the carrier platform of service management "literature and art".
In accordance with the work arrangements and requirements of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the base actively improves the working mechanism of "Literature and Art" in all aspects and links, continuously explores and strengthens the party building work of "Literature and Art", carries out in-depth normalized education and training of "Literature and Art", extensively carries out the construction of professional ethics of "Literature and Art", adheres to the correct political direction, and enhances the ideological identity of "Literature and Art". Under the guidance of the Guangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the base pays attention to strengthening political guidance, strengthening the construction of professional ethics and work style in the field of animation, and actively unites and absorbs new literary and artistic groups through the association's re-election, talent training, professional title evaluation, etc., and has established the Guangzhou Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cultural Exchange Promotion Center, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Literature Workshop, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Art Alliance, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Animation Joint Committee, etc., to give full play to the joint effect of "Literature and Art".
