On the occasion of Mother's Day, in order to express respect and gratitude to mothers and convey the double warmth of school and family, primary and secondary schools in Foshan have planned and organized a variety of activities. On May 11, Shiwan No. 1 Primary School held a third-grade parent-child pottery and Durian Garden community pottery culture popularization activity. About 400 people participated in the parent-child pottery making activity, and three student representatives presented pottery gifts to their mothers on the spot.
"The thousand-year-old stove kiln is hot, and the mud in the kiln laughs haha...... Before the start of the parent-child pottery making activity, the students played the ocarina, recited and played the song "Taoxiang Nursery Rhymes". As the performance begins, their fingers jump over the holes of the ocarina, and some parents close their eyes and revel in it; Some parents swayed their bodies to the rhythm of the music.
"Crumple the clay into a ball, place it on the table and beat it slowly to flatten it...... When the event was announced, the students eagerly picked up the clay and started making it. They used knives to create on clay and kneaded the body of the jar into various shapes. Parents are on hand to help, holding their child's hand to adjust the proportions and shape of the artwork, or smiling and encouraging the child.
"This parent-child pottery making is not only a pleasant parent-child activity, but also an educational experience. In the process of parents and children completing the works together, we explored and learned together, which not only enhanced the emotional communication between parents and children, but also exercised the children's hands-on ability and creativity," said parent Zhao Wenfeng.
After the production of the pottery works was completed, the masters, teachers and students selected and awarded awards on the spot, and selected 10 first prizes, 20 second prizes, and 30 third prizes among the 60 best works. Pang Wenzhong, a master of Chinese ceramic art, commented on the works and sent blessings to parents and students.
On Mother's Day, the school set up a special gift-giving session. Three student representatives presented their pottery works made at school as gifts to their mothers and sent Mother's Day wishes.
In addition, the school also held a parent school lecture with the theme of "Attaching Importance to the Cultivation of Children's Good Reading Habits". "Reading is a necessity for children's moral development and intellectual development, parents can start by telling stories, teach children to learn to read, and cultivate children's habit of reading newspapers and periodicals." Teacher Lin Huiling shared the importance of reading and the six aspects of cultivating children's good reading.
"The development of this activity not only allows students to learn art and other aspects of knowledge in practice, but also provides a platform for parents to participate in school education, so that parents can understand their children's school situation more intuitively. At the same time, as a pottery school, we hold pottery-making activities to help students and parents understand the charm of traditional culture more deeply. Zhou Guirong, vice principal of Shiwan No. 1 Primary School, said.
It is understood that Shiwan No. 1 Primary School is influenced by the humanistic environment of "Shiwan Pottery" and the aesthetics of pottery art, and adheres to the integration of the work of Lide Shuren and the inheritance of Shiwan pottery, and creates the school's "Taomei Education" cultural brand driven by the characteristics of pottery. The school has successively won the titles of the first batch of national primary and secondary schools of Chinese excellent culture and art inheritance, the fifth batch of art education characteristic schools in Guangdong Province, and the experimental base of ceramic art teaching and creation in Guangdong Province.
