Traveling through the three decades of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Afghan Civil War, and then the Taliban's rise to power and final liberation, Husseini tells the story of the lives of two Afghan women.

These heart-wrenching moments, these unimaginable images, are things we have never experienced or witnessed. And it happened really, it was an unforgivable time, it was a deep sorrow that a thousand suns could not warm.

Not to erupt in silence, to die in silence "Brilliant Thousand Suns"

Maryam, the illegitimate daughter of the wealthy merchant Zalil, was born in a mud hut in the village of Goodelman near Herat, and she was called Little Harami by her mother, which means illegitimate child.

Her father came to see her once a week, brought her gifts, told her about what was going on outside, which was her only way to get information, and as she grew up, the more she wanted to see the outside world, to live with her father and siblings, but she was an illegitimate daughter, and her Nana was humble.

She went to find her father privately, but was turned away and slept on the street, and returned home to find Nana hanging herself. At the age of fifteen, she was married by her father to a shoemaker in her forties.

Many times she thought happiness was within reach, but life gave her a slap in the face, the shoemaker often beat her, and she coped with the patience she had learned from Nana, she had suffered seven miscarriages and lost her fertility, and she lived like a dead and walking dead.

Eighteen-year-old Lyra lost her parents and lover in the war, but she became pregnant and had to marry the shoemaker, whose atrocities were intolerable to the educated Lyra, who planned to escape from beginning to end.

A young life makes Mariam feel warm, and Lyra's persistence also makes her hope again, and their friendship is linked, and they plan to escape together, but they are caught and beaten again because of the imprisonment of this damn patriarchal society.

Lyra, who learns that her lover is not dead, meets her lover, is beaten again by her husband, and while struggling on the brink of death, Maryam kills their husband.

At this time, Maryam did not have a trace of fear in his heart, there was no trace of guilt, and this was what he deserved.

Originally heartbroken, living in the abyss of despair, it was Lyra and her children who saved her, with friendship and love, and what she repaid them was friendship and love, even the price of life.

Instead of covering up her guilt or running away, she let Lyra and her lover and two children flee to Pakistan while she herself was tried and subjected to death.

She thought she would be afraid, but when she stood at the execution ground, her heart was extremely calm, and when the gun rang out, she left this world with her own pain, but Love went with the Lyra family to Pakistan, a place where they could be blessed.

After the liberation of Afghanistan, Lyra went to the orphanage to do reconstruction work and became the person she wanted to be, with Mariam's love.

It's not just the story of two women, it's the story of afghanistan as a whole, where the Soviet invasion left them living in war, the civil war deprived them of their loved ones, and the Taliban deprived them of their right to education.

It is the whole patriarchal society that gives them no chance to even wear beautiful clothes, and the blue burqa is their nightmare and the nightmare they can't get rid of.

Friendship and love erupted in Maryam, who had always been accustomed to patience, and she rebelled, and although her rebellion could only leave Lyra and those around her, she also saved herself, and in the last moments of her life, she was truly liberated.

This is the life of thousands of women in Afghanistan, they have no freedom, no rights, they can only be at the mercy of others, the frightened eyes behind the burqa still shimmer, that is their hope, hope that life will become different, hope that everything will be better.

And we are undoubtedly extremely happy, we do not have the patriarchal persecution, we have not been beaten and can not escape, we still have the law, we have the freedom to wear the clothes we want to wear, the blue burqa many people may not know what it is.

And we are happiest than that we don't have to worry about what war will bring us, because there are so many people who guard our peace.

Cherish the life in front of you, the outside world is full of suffering that we have not seen.

Even if suffering comes, even if we face difficulties, we must still be hopeful.
