Late at night on May 9, Beijing time, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha defeated their opponents 3:0 3 times with an indisputable advantage four times and won the WTT Saudi Arabia Grand Slam mixed doubles championship. The title not only cemented their position in the mixed doubles arena, but also set a number of records: becoming the first mixed doubles champion in the history of a Saudi Grand Slam, the only quadruple winner in WTT Grand Slam history, and the only pair to have won two Grand Slam tournaments.

Since the inaugural Singapore Grand Slam in 2022, the "Shatou" duo have won the mixed doubles title for three consecutive years with their unrivalled strength. In the Saudi Arabian Grand Slam, they easily won the championship with a complete victory, achieving the feat of four consecutive Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. From Singapore to Saudi Arabia, the golden duo have won 16 matches across four tournaments, notably at the Saudi Grand Slam, where they swept their opponents 3-0 in each of their matches, showing unrivalled dominance.

In March 2022, the inaugural WTT Grand Slam kicked off in Singapore. Prior to the Saudi Grand Slam, the Singapore Grand Slam had been the only Grand Slam tournament in international table tennis. In the first three editions of the tournament, Fan Zhendong, Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin, Sun Yingsha/Wang Manyu, and Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha successfully defended their titles in the men's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events respectively. However, in the third Singapore Grand Slam in March this year, Fan Zhendong and Fan Zhendong/Wang Chuqin failed to defend their titles, Sun Yingsha did not participate in the women's doubles competition, and only the "Shatou" pair successfully completed a triple crown in the mixed doubles.

On May 7, with their excellent results in the past year, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha successfully locked up the mixed doubles quota for the Paris Olympics. On the evening of the 9th, they once again proved themselves with a perfect performance, once again consolidating their dominance in the mixed doubles field with a brilliant record of four consecutive Grand Slam titles.

The mixed doubles event has been an official Olympic event since the Tokyo Olympics. Japan's Hayabusa Mizutani and Mimato Ito won gold at that event, but they have never won a World Championships mixed doubles title or a Grand Slam event. Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha's goals are clearly even more ambitious: if they can reach the mixed doubles podium again at the Paris Olympics in two months' time, they will become the first pair in history to win the mixed doubles title at the Olympic and World Championships, and with four consecutive Grand Slam titles, the pair will create an unprecedented miracle in world table tennis.

Now, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha are just one step away from this great cause, and the eyes of the world table tennis world will be focused on the Olympic stadium in Paris this summer. The Shatou duo will go all out to add another legend to their achievements.
