Recently, the reporter came to the eighth group of Bailuo Village, Jiuhong Township, and met Cai Lilun, who won the title of "King of Melons" last year. He excitedly introduced that this year, his family transferred 25 acres of land and carefully planted 3,000 nests of watermelon seedlings in the greenhouse. Nowadays, the watermelons in the melon shed are growing gratifyingly, big and round, and the first batch of watermelons have matured and gone on the market. Cai Lilun's watermelons are favored by traders and consumers because of their large, sweet and crisp watermelons, and in just a few days, he has sold more than 4,000 catties of watermelons, and it is expected that more watermelons will be put on sale one after another.
"My watermelon is very good, with thin skin, sweet flavor and crispy texture." Cai Lilun proudly said that this year's weather is suitable and the watermelons are growing well, and the general public is welcome to come to taste, pick and buy. According to him, the output of the first batch of watermelons is expected to reach about 15,000 catties, and there will be 40,000 to 50,000 catties of watermelons on the market one after another. At present, the market price is stable, and the price per catty is between three yuan and four yuan.
Jiuhong Township is known as the "hometown of melons and peppers", and "Jiuhong watermelon" is known for its thin skin, juicy and sweet taste. It is understood that the area of watermelons sown in Jiuhong Township this year reached 13,000 mu.
