Not long ago, a big event happened in the Thonglor district of Bangkok, Thailand.
A spa was raided by the police, and two women were arrested.
First of all, let's talk about the spa.
It's located in Sukhumvit Soi 24 in the Khon Causeway district, which sounds pretty tall, right? But don't be fooled by the name, this place is not clean.
The police received a tip-off that there might be some illegal activity here, so they began a secret investigation.
They sent staff to disguise themselves as customers and go inside to find out. As a result, they really bumped into it, and the spa was indeed involved in the illegal sex trade.
Speaking of which, it is important to mention the investigative skills of those staff.
Not only do they have to pretend to be presentable, but they also have to have enough guts and intelligence. They found that the spa was priced at 2,000 baht, the service time was about 40 minutes, and ah, they were very "picky", most of the time they only accept foreigners. That sounds like that, right?
Next, let's talk about the two women who were arrested.
One is a 35-year-old Myanmar woman, Modu, and the other is a 30-year-old Thai woman, Supara.
Ms. Modu works as a front desk at the spa, she speaks Thai and looks quite professional.
The Supara was assigned to a room on the 3rd floor to prepare for the service. When the staff disguised as customers finished paying, they signaled that the investigation team sprang into action and arrested the two women.
After her arrest, Ms. Modu confessed that she was the person in charge of the spa.
She also revealed a shocking detail: out of the 2,000 baht she received from customers, only 1,000 baht would be distributed to the woman who provided the service. That sounds like that, right? It's just exploitation!
Now, the two women have been taken back to the police station.
The police intend to prosecute them for inducing others to engage in prostitution.
Speaking of which, I have to mention the issue of sex trafficking in Thailand.
According to UNICEF, the number of sex workers in Thailand is quite large, and many of them are lured or forced into the profession.
This police operation is not only a blow to lawbreakers, but also a kind of protection for those who may become victims.
Moreover, this is not unique in Thailand.
To be honest, it's quite poignant.
For those women who work in spas, their lives may not be as glamorous as we think.
They may face all sorts of pressures and dilemmas and have to choose this path.
