2024 is an amazing year for Italy luxury superyacht manufacturer CdM. The company currently has 14 yachts on order or under construction, having sold the first yacht of its flagship series, the Flexporer 165, just three months ago. On top of that, CDM secured customers for its second Flexporer 165 at the end of July, which is destined to be in a class of its own thanks to extensive customization.

Flexplorer is an abbreviation for "flexible explorer", which combines the ability to stay at sea for long periods of time with the comfort that is more typical of a white yacht. At 50.3 meters long, the Flexplorer 165 is the shipyard's largest expedition series to date. Although part of the same family, the first and second Flexporer 165 superyachts are very different, each tailored to the needs and preferences of the customer. The first was sold to a European customer in April, and the second has just been sold to a "lifestyle-positive" United States customer.

As we all know, pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the United States and is often referred to as the new golf due to its affordability and ease of learning than tennis. At the insistence of the owner, CDM's second model, the Flexplorer 165, was customized to meet this unique requirement, resulting in an expedition yacht that is truly different. With a capacity of 499GT, the yacht will meet the needs of a tycoon and his active family to explore remote destinations in comfort.

This particular lifestyle will be fully reflected in the yacht's bespoke facilities, which also require complex design modifications and structural changes. First, the overhang of the upper deck was extended to create space for a full-size pickleball court, surrounded by a carbon fiber protective structure with nets to prevent the ball from entering the water; Two dedicated viewing areas have been added to the upper deck and the sun deck.

Another highlight is the strong focus on wellness facilities. She will further provide treatment areas for the most critical players to relieve pain in the muscles. Most modern superyachts have a spa area and separate gym in addition to a classic Jacuzzi, but this Italy adventure yacht takes it to the next level. The upper deck will house a gym and massage area, the main deck will integrate a heated swimming pool, and the sun deck will be equipped with a state-of-the-art "heat therapy" space and a cold plunge tub designed to run between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius.

These luxurious spa facilities complement the water sports capabilities of the expedition yacht. The extra length of the upper deck also creates a large shaded area on the main deck below, which is used to accommodate a jet ski and a seven-metre tender on the main deck, a second smaller tenderer on the upper deck, and two more jet skis on the sun deck. When the water toys on the main deck are launched with the help of an overhead crane, this versatile space transforms into a great outdoor entertaining area with a bar, heated pool/freestanding furniture and foldable bulwarks.

Last but not least, the upper deck doubles as a helipad compatible with EC130 helicopters. In addition, the yacht has two additional storage areas for additional entertainment equipment that the owner plans to use on the water or on land. One is in the aft storage room and the other is outside the hull door near the crew quarters. The crew will use the same hull doors for replenishment. In connection with this, the ship will be equipped with a walk-in freezer, as well as a garbage room for storing waste for up to two weeks.

As for the interior, an elevator will link all decks. Four cabins are located on the lower deck, while the master suite occupies the main position on the main deck. There will be 5 cabins for a crew of 10, while traditionally, the captain will have a cabin next to the wheelhouse.

This outstanding luxury adventure yacht for sports enthusiasts features Hydro-Tec's naval engineering and interiors by United Kingdom design studio Design Unlimited. The custom-built yacht is a heavy-duty expedition yacht that will be equipped with two Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each with an output of 970 kW at 1,800 rpm, capable of traveling nearly 5,000 miles at 10 knots and a top speed of 15 knots.

This amazing project was made possible through the expertise of Christian Bakewell of the brokerage Burgess, who introduced the client to the shipyard. Carlo Aquilanti, CDM's sales manager, said in a statement: "It is a privilege to work with the owner on this project. "It was clear from our first conversation that the Flexplorer 165 was a great fit for him. We have managed to successfully integrate all his favorite sports activities and his lifestyle into the yacht. ”

"This project not only underscores our shipyard's ability to meet highly specialized needs, but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and customization. It also cements our reputation for delivering top-of-the-line custom yachts to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers. ”

For its United States owner, he will have to wait until the fall of 2027 to get the dream ship. The final price of this custom Flexporer 165 has yet to be announced, but it certainly matches what can only be described as a millionaire toy.
