In the past April, the 2024 Fujian Provincial Cultural Tourism Economic Development Conference was held in Quanzhou, and the World Heritage Research and Tourism Development Seminar was one of the important supporting activities. Research travel, a new form of tourism, has therefore attracted more attention.

At the same time, the recent discussion on how to promote Quanzhou's cultural tourism market from "Internet celebrity" to "long-term red" has become more and more enthusiastic. Combined with the rapid heating up of the research market and Quanzhou's continuous efforts to build a "Changhong" city of cultural tourism, Quanzhou's research industry and consumers who come to Quanzhou for research and study travel believe that the research field should receive more attention, encouragement and support. In their opinion, the "Changhong" city of cultural tourism needs a flow-based check-in, and it needs an immersive experience, and only by having an in-depth understanding of a city will they like it more, turning "Quanzhou, a city that you have to come at least once in your life" into "Quanzhou, a city where one visit is not enough".

Studying is a great way to learn more about the World Heritage City

During this "May Day" holiday, Li Wei, the mother of Guangzhou's "second child", gave her child a gift of a two-day parent-child study tour in Quanzhou.

Li Wei is a "post-80s". More than 20 years ago, when she was studying in the Department of Journalism of Xiamen University, she came to Quanzhou with three or five friends in the dormitory to do an "ancient research trip". "Quanzhou has mountains and seas, a unique history and culture of the Maritime Silk Road, many delicacies, and Tieguanyin, which is an ideal city for research. Because of this understanding and her own beautiful experience, Li Wei planned to take the whole family to "revisit" this holiday.

During the two-day parent-child study, Li Wei arranged three contents: Kaiyuan Temple, Haijiao Hall and Citywalk (City Walk) in the ancient city of Quanzhou. As a financial worker, she usually has a lot of work pressure, so the ideal arrangement is to entrust a one-stop research institution and platform in Quanzhou. Since April, she has been looking for docking through her college classmates in Quanzhou, but found that there are no special institutions and products in Quanzhou for family-oriented individual customers like her to meet the needs of research. In the end, she had to do her own homework, arrange and integrate in-depth explanation resources of the attractions to achieve the purpose of the study trip.

"The research market is huge. It can be said that every urban family with children has more or less considered that travel should be linked to study. Even not only children, but also adults themselves also want to have the opportunity to study and have more gains than ordinary travel. Li Wei said that Quanzhou has good resources to develop the research travel market, but there are still many efforts to be made in the actual transformation.

She took her trip as an example, in the early stage of the intention to dock the landing, Quanzhou can develop research subdivision of the platform, routes and products, in the exhibition hall and other research travel points, should focus more on the main body of research travel - students, the development and promotion of 3D images, cultural and creative products. "Understanding the history and culture of a city is a threshold thing, if you want more people to understand and like Quanzhou, you have to find ways to lower the threshold. For example, the museum's large display panels and a large amount of text are not attractive to children, and it would be better if they could provide interesting promotional videos and ancient ship model building toys, Li said.

"Tea has always been a very important Silk Road trade commodity, and Quanzhou also happens to be the hometown of Anxi Tieguanyin. Li Wei said that in the process of Citywalk in the ancient city of Quanzhou, there are many restaurants and cafes in the streets and alleys, but it is a pity that there are few tea drinking spaces for public tourists. "I am looking forward to coming to Quanzhou next time, I can taste the good tea of Quanzhou and learn about the profound tea culture of Quanzhou just like going to the restaurant and drinking coffee. ”

Practitioners

We look forward to more attention from the government level

"The provincial cultural and tourism economic development conference has repeatedly mentioned research, and at the market level, in recent years, the market size of research travel has also developed rapidly. It is reasonable to believe that the next stage of research should receive more attention, guidance and support from the government level. Liu Haixiang, general manager of Fujian Runpu Culture Media Co., Ltd., has expressed such views many times recently.

Among the tourism practitioners, Liu Haixiang is a special existence. Born in 1983, he once re-walked the Maritime Silk Road and the Land Silk Road by cycling, and also published the book "Journey to the East of the Silk Road", known as "Cycling Superman". He once said that Quanzhou culture was the driving force for his travel. "On the road of cycling, I am not only a cyclist, but also a cultural messenger, a traveler, an explorer, a photographer, a barista, a foodie. ”

In 2022, based on his love for travel and hometown culture, and considering the need to provide "reading and walking" education for his two children, Liu Haixiang transformed into a research trip. In the process, he became more and more aware of the importance of the study trip to Quanzhou.

"In my opinion, the 'Changhong' of urban cultural tourism not only needs a traffic-based and punch-card ecology, but also needs a deep understanding and love. Only by knowing and loving it will tourists visit the city again and again, rather than 'just once' or 'visit here'. Liu Haixiang said that since his career, he has actively designed original research routes and products around Quanzhou's resources and characteristics, and the market response has been good, "but many products have been plagiarized and imitated as soon as they are listed, and the market lacks norms." ”

Optimistic about the development of the research market, and to build a "good currency" in the Quanzhou research market as a self-requirement, Liu Haixiang is very much looking forward to more attention and support from the government for research travel. "The government can set up a public promotion platform for research trips, endorse with credibility, and promote good institutions, good products, and good courses to target customers, so that tourists can make landing plans in advance and with confidence. The departments of culture, tourism and education may take the lead in carrying out competitions for research products and courses, excavate and form more high-quality products, and rate, reward and price original and high-quality courses and products, so as to form direct support and encouragement and indirect copyright protection. ”

Liu Haixiang believes that as a world heritage city, Quanzhou should quickly incorporate 22 world heritage sites into the research base, so that not only foreign tourists can systematically understand Quanzhou's maritime culture and Maritime Silk Road culture, but also local students in Quanzhou can cultivate cultural self-confidence and speak for their hometown through the study and study of these world heritage sites.

Pragmatism can go further

From the ancient city docent to the reception of the travel agency research group, Qiu Shan, a cultural tourism practitioner, defines his professional personality with two key words: "folk" and "front-line".

"I used to do a lot of in-depth lectures on the ancient city of private customization, and in the last two years, I have been exposed to research trips. As far as research is concerned, Quanzhou has very good resources and a broad market, but we still have a lot of work to do and a long way to go from concept to practical operation. Qiu Shan said that in mid-May, she will host a research group from Chongqing, consisting of more than 200 middle school students. The four-month experience of this project from docking to execution has allowed her to see and learn a lot.

According to Qiu Shan, from the end of February to the present, in order to formulate the route, Chongqing's group has communicated with her more than three times in depth with the itinerary design of Quanzhou alone.

"What inspired me is that in order to form a real research travel market, it is not just about the number of resources, but about the need to form specific and detailed products and courses. Qiu Shan said that taking student research as an example, children who are two years apart are very different, and their interests and acceptance methods are very different, so they need to develop products in a targeted manner. At present, the research products in the Quanzhou market are relatively extensive, and they need to be further refined, polished and connected. In this regard, she suggested that the cultural and tourism department or the research branch of the Quanzhou Tourism Association should come forward to organize relevant practitioners to learn from experience and broaden their horizons in cities with mature experience.

Qiu Shan also believes that the concept of "great cultural tourism" and "great research" should be established. "For example, we can develop overseas Chinese history and culture root-seeking and in-depth research courses. Qiu Shan said that this will give full play to Quanzhou's unique resource advantages, but also expand the age group and customer groups, the vast number of overseas Quanzhou people into the customer group, overseas Chinese as a bridge, in a higher dimension for the development of Quanzhou cohesion.

Departments and associations

It will standardize the market and support and guide it to become bigger and stronger

From April 18th to 19th, as one of the important supporting activities of the provincial cultural and tourism economic development conference, the series of activities of the World Heritage Research and Tourism Development Seminar were held in Hui'an County. Nearly 200 guests attended the meeting, including representatives of international research organizations, camp associations, domestic world cultural heritage and associations, representatives of domestic and foreign head research enterprises and camps, service providers of domestic research institutions, representatives of research associations at all levels, representatives of colleges and universities and experts.

Such a high-level research seminar allows the industry to see the determination and confidence of Quanzhou to develop research travel. During the seminar, Quanzhou made a promotion of "Quanzhou World Heritage Research and Tourism Resources" around the rich "family background", and Quanzhou Cultural Protection Center, Quanzhou Tourism Association and the World Research and Tourism Organization jointly issued the "Quanzhou World Cultural Heritage Research Course Design Guidelines", which also conveyed and revealed Quanzhou's emphasis on standardizing the research market and supporting it to become bigger and stronger.

At the same time, industry associations and market players are also making efforts to develop research tourism. In December last year, the research and travel branch of Quanzhou Tourism Association was officially established, with nearly 80 enterprises participating. According to Yang Wei, president of the branch, the member units of the branch are composed of three parties: the research base, the research curriculum development institution and the research activity organization. In the future, the branch will further open up the upstream and downstream of Quanzhou's research industry chain through cooperation and exchanges between member units. At the same time, the branch will also be based on the local expansion to the outside world, so that the Quanzhou research industry pattern "inline and external", linking the province and the international market. "We will also use the research branch as a platform to strive for more support, guidance and help from the higher authorities in the field of research. Yang Wei said. In the same month, the signing ceremony of the National Primary and Secondary School Students' Research and Practice Education (Quanzhou) Camp Research and Practice Education Collaboration Unit was held in Jinjiang Primary and Secondary School Students' Demonstration Comprehensive Practice Base (Shizhen Campus), and the signing units included 29 traditional cultural blocks in Wudian City, Jinjiang Museum, Weitou Battlefield Fishing Village, Yongchun Xiangdu, etc., to strive for prosperity and win-win results through linkage interaction.

As a pioneer of research travel, Hui'an County is taking multiple measures in this field. "The seminar was held in Hui'an, which enhanced the research brand of Hui'an and Quanzhou, and was also very conducive to the cooperation between Hui'an and Quanzhou and the research institutions and platforms of the whole country and the world. He Haiyan, deputy director of the Hui'an County Tourism Development Center, introduced that Hui'an had previously commissioned the well-known domestic research institution "Qi Wuzhi" to develop research courses around the ancient city of Chongwu, and will also rely on the institution to introduce a demonstration group to truly implement research courses and routes. Through the resources and contacts of all parties linked by this seminar, these research courses will also be distributed on the platforms of major research institutions, and Hui'an looks forward to ushering in the first wave of research for primary and secondary school students and parent-child research in the summer.

"The talent support of research tutors has also been in full swing. He Haiyan told reporters that Hui'an is planning to form a framework cooperation agreement with Quanzhou Preschool College, and in the future, preschool students will carry out internships around the guidance of Huiyan Academy, and the two sides will cooperate to train research tutors. In response to the industry and market demand, the cultural and tourism department of Hui'an County is also planning to carry out a research course competition to enrich the content of the research market, and the upcoming "Incentive Measures for Promoting the High-quality Development of Cultural and Tourism Economy in Hui'an County" will also give incentives and subsidies to research institutions, excellent research courses and excellent research tutors who carry out research activities in Hui'an County.
