The canal water is full of water, and the rhyme of the south of the Yangtze River is long. This evening (May 5), the 6th Wuzhong Poly Canal Theater Festival kicked off at Suzhou Poly Grand Theater.
With the theme of "inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture and actively contributing to the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt", this year's Drama Festival invites high-quality stage art works from cities along the canal to perform in Suzhou, and will launch more than 80 performances and activities in five major sections: "Great Opera" series, "Famous Drama and Famous Troupe Performance" series, "Great Musician" series, "Jiangnan Small Theater" series, and "Drama Creative Experience Camp". At the same time, this year's drama festival will launch a number of cultural tourism routes, tell the "story of Suzhou" in a three-dimensional way, explore a new model of integrated development of "performing arts + tourism", strive to create an influential urban cultural IP, and empower cultural undertakings and high-quality development of cultural industries with performing arts economy.
In the "Great Opera" series, 10 winners of the "Plum Blossom Award" for Chinese theatre, including Li Shengsu, Yu Kuizhi, Wang Junan, Li Min, Wang Peiyu, Shan Wen, Shi Xiaming, Shen Fengying, Yu Jiulin and Zheng Quan, will gather in Suzhou to bring Peking Opera "Mu Guiying in Command", "Red-Maned Horse", Kunqu Opera "1699 Peach Blossom Fan", youth version of "Peony Pavilion" (full version), Yue Opera "Jade Dragonfly" and "He Wenxiu" and other classic repertoire, focusing on the outstanding achievements of the inheritance and innovation of Chinese opera art in the new era, and promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of China's excellent traditional culture.
In the "Great Musician" series, famous performers such as Lu Siqing, Chai Liang, Liu Mengjie and Norwegian national treasure music group Mystery Garden will bring classic music such as "Liang Zhu", "Meditation" and "Song of the Wanderer", touching people's hearts with the beauty of music. In addition, the famous dancer Wang Yabin and the "treasure theater man" Liu Xiaoyi will bring their representative works dance drama "Journey to the West", small theater drama "Deep Blue" and "Four Masterpieces in Light and Shadow", etc., to highlight the "essence of the city" with the beauty of drama.
Suzhou is prosperous because of the canal, the most wonderful section of the Grand Canal is in Suzhou, the richest cultural connotation is in Suzhou, and the most stories are also in Suzhou. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the successful inscription of China's Grand Canal on the World Heritage List, and at present, Suzhou is making every effort to build the "wonderful Suzhou section" of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt. The Wuzhong Poly Canal Theater Festival will decorate the canal with the beauty of drama, help launch the "Jiangnan Culture" brand, and actively serve the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt.
