At 8 a.m. yesterday (May 1), as the starting gun sounded, the 2024 Jinji Lake 10,000-person walking activity was launched, and about 10,000 sports enthusiasts walked on the picturesque Jinji Lake to feel the development achievements of Suzhou Industrial Park in the past 30 years. Jin Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, Shen Mi, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the park, and Ji Jing, deputy mayor, attended the event.
The event was hosted by the Park Management Committee and undertaken by the Park Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and Suzhou Huibu Sports and Culture Development Co., Ltd. Registration began at 3 p.m. on April 3, and the quota was sold out on the same day. The event sets up two projects, about 13 kilometers around the lake and about 5 kilometers of walking, starting from the Music Fountain Square in Jinji Lake Scenic Area, connecting landmark buildings such as the Gate of the East, Suzhou Center, Ligong Causeway, and Suzhou Culture and Art Center.
Recently, the park has increased the overall planning and upgrading of Jinji Lake, focusing on landscape, commerce, activities, services, etc., and strengthening the transformation and upgrading of the slow traffic system, water vitality stage, supporting post stations, landscape elements, etc. The light and shadow water show made a stunning appearance, the Jinji Lake Station was unique, and the glow-in-the-dark runway was smart and cool, which greatly enhanced the tour experience of citizens and tourists. At the same time, the construction of projects such as the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art, Suzhou Central Plaza, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Ferris wheel on the right bank of Jinji Lake is also speeding up. People walked along the way, and the hot construction scene in front of them was exciting.
The organizer has set up 6 fixed medical stations along the site, equipped with medical ambulances, mobile AED medical rescue services, etc., to deal with emergencies such as sudden physical discomfort of people that may occur. There were also many volunteers along the way, who paid attention to the physical condition of the participants in real time and made every effort to ensure the safety and smoothness of the activity.
In addition, the organizer held a series of themed activities such as "I took a photo with the park" and "Treasure Hunt" for the 30th anniversary of the park.
"I was so excited. Gu Deren, general manager of Suzhou Yuanzhi Technology Co., Ltd. and moral model of the park, is the "leader" of this 10,000-person walking activity. This is the first time he has participated in such a large-scale group event in more than 20 years of working in the park.
