After years of development, Huawei mobile phones have become an important force in the global smartphone market. Over the past few years, Huawei's Mate series and P series flagship models have been leading the development trend of mobile phone imaging technology. In 2024, Huawei will launch the new Pura series of flagship phones, aiming to further improve the mobile imaging experience and usher in a new era of mobile imaging.

All four models will reach the flagship level in terms of hardware configuration, but the Pura 70 Ultra will have a number of exclusive configurations, making it the flagship of imaging flagships. It has been revealed that the Pura 70 Ultra will use a new ceramic body design, combined with a metal middle frame, to create the ultimate texture experience.

As the imaging flagship, the Pura 70 Ultra is naturally the biggest highlight. The phone will be equipped with Sony's latest 1-inch IMX989 sensor, which is expected to be the first mass-produced 1-inch mobile phone sensor. With a whopping 64 million pixels, this large sensor will greatly improve the level of detail and dynamic range of mobile phone photography.
In addition to the main camera with a large bottom, the Pura 70 Ultra will also come with a variable-aperture lens. Variable aperture technology, which is currently only available on a few professional cameras, automatically adjusts the aperture size according to the shooting scene, keeping the aperture wide in low-light conditions to collect more light, and reducing the aperture to gain more depth of field in good light conditions. This configuration will further enhance the imaging capabilities of the Pura 70 Ultra.
In addition, Huawei's long-term XMAGE imaging algorithm will also be upgraded and optimized on the Pura 70 Ultra. The new generation of XMAGE will further enhance the effect of multiple shooting modes such as HDR, Super Resolution, Night Scene, Portrait, etc., allowing users to achieve ideal photo quality in any scene.
The main configuration of other models
While the Pura 70 Ultra is the imaging flagship, the other three models will also come with powerful imaging hardware. The standard Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro are likely to be powered by the OmniVision OV50H sensor, while the Pura 70 Pro+ is expected to feature the Sony IMX766 sensor. The two sensors are 1/1.56-inch and 1/1.49-inch respectively, and the photo quality is expected to be comparable to that of the previous generation flagship model.
In terms of hardware configuration, the Pura 70 series will come standard with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. The high-end version can even have up to 1TB of storage space, which is fully suitable for image storage needs. The Pura series will also be powered by Huawei's latest-generation Kirin 9000+ processor, as well as the next-generation XMAGE NPU, to ensure powerful image processing capabilities.
Release time and pricing information
At the moment, there is no official word about the specific release time of the Pura series. However, according to previous revelations, this series of new machines is expected to go on sale around April 18. As for pricing, industry insiders believe that the starting price of the Pura 70 series may be comparable to last year's Mate 60 series flagship, which is between RMB 6,000 and RMB 8,000.
