The calligraphy of Wei tablets, which inherited the Han and Jin dynasties and the Tang and Song dynasties, sprouted in the Wei and Jin dynasties, developed and matured during the period when Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved his capital to Luoyang, and continued to develop in the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi and Northern Zhou dynasties. After the unification of the Sui Dynasty, the calligraphy of the Wei tablet gradually fell silent.
"Yuan Zhan Epitaph" is also a product in the epitaph of the Yuan family of the Northern Wei Dynasty, engraved in the second year of the Northern Wei Dynasty (519), the full name is "the epitaph of the late Wei Dynasty Zhenyuan General Assassin Shi Yuan Envoy". The length and width of the Chi are 50 cm each, and the thickness of the Chi is 13 cm. There are 23 lines in the main book, 23 words in the full line, there is a boundary, and there is no Zhigai.
"Yuan Zhan Epitaph" is very calm and quiet in the overall structure, simple and elegant, the atmosphere is majestic, the glyph is slightly flattened, and it has a slight Han monument meaning.
