Calligraphy contains the humor of retraction and release in the stability - the clumsiness of Wei Bei's "Yuan Teng Epitaph" wins

After the Northern Wei Dynasty unified the north, it implemented sinicization, and the epitaph atmosphere expanded to the entire Northern Dynasties. "Yuan Teng Epitaph", also known as "Yuan Teng and his wife Cheng Fazhu Epitaph", the original title of the Zhi is "The Epitaph of Yuan Teng, the Captain of the Ancient City Gate of the Great Wei Dynasty". It was engraved on November 9 of the second year of the Shengui of the Northern Wei Dynasty (519) (the same year as the "Epitaph of Yuan Zhan" shared earlier).

In 1925, it was unearthed in Xujiagou, north of Luoyang City, Henan Province. Later, it returned to the Henan Museum. The epitaph is 51.3 centimeters high and 55.5 centimeters wide. Text, 18 lines, 18 characters in lines, a total of 304 words.

"Yuan Teng Epitaph" uses regular script, oblique strokes are highlighted, the word is neat and concise, the strokes are sharp, the middle palace is tightened, the lower plate is opened, the knife is very strong, the clumsy wins, and the shape often contains the humor of retraction in stability.
