Yearning for the sublime
Music recitals
Editor's note: Not long ago, a music recital called "Yearning for the Sublime" was held at the Equatorial Hotel. Tong Zirong, a famous voice actor who is nearly 80 years old, is the initiator of this event. He said it was a birthday gift for the party's centenarian birthday – even if it was just a small bouquet of flowers, just a small salon-style recitation...

These days I am very lively, and my walking steps are exceptionally brisk. Because I have done something, a thing that has been recognized by the audience, my heart feels full.
To be honest, I don't have any great ambitions, just simply imagine, calculate, let some prose that moves me to tears, share it with my friends through recitation, and let them also be moved and even cry.
I fear that even a small reading may fail or fall into mediocrity. Although my good friends who have been helping for more than a year have constantly encouraged me, especially my wife, who is tired enough to choke.
I really didn't expect that such a recitation would be so loved by the audience. Before the performance that day, God did not help, and it rained heavily, but even the storm could not extinguish the enthusiasm of the audience's friends.
What touched me even more was that throughout the performance process, the audience was listening, feeling and thinking carefully, and no one left the table halfway. Naturally, such a scene inspired the actors on stage even more. As for the final happy closing, the audience rushed to take a photo with the actors and sign autographs, which is conceivable.
The popularity of the recitation is not due to my efforts alone, but because "yearning for the sublime" is the common pursuit of the actors and the audience, and the spiritual power is really powerful!
In fact, as early as 20 years ago, I held a music recital called "Yearning for the Sublime". It was the first time, at the Shanghai Concert Hall (I was superstitious that the sound there was the best in Shanghai). I was impressed by that time, when more than a third of the audience rushed to the stage and hugged the actors, I still think that I am still in high spirits, and I think it is worth it.
Some people ask, why is the name "yearning for the sublime"? These four words are not my invention, but the title of an article by the university scholar Yu Guangyuan. At that time, after reading the newspaper, the four words of "yearning for the sublime" shocked me, and I thought in my heart, which activity I planned in the future, I would use these four words as a clear and concise logo.

I always think that things must be done well either or not, and if they are to be done, they must be done well, so that the audience and friends will be strong and addicted. Again, I made up my mind that the recitation would be something special.
How special? I first had an idea, this time simply let me host from beginning to end, I believe that let "Zorro" host the performance, the audience friends will be curious.
I have no experience, but I have passion and inspiration, as well as bold improvisation, and I believe that with such characteristics, I can pass the level. There was still one person to stay on the stage from beginning to end of the performance, that is, the piano accompaniment, and I had the honor of inviting the pianist Kong Xiangdong, which was also a highlight of the recital.
The content of the reading is probably the prose that has touched me in books, newspapers and magazines over the years. I recited the masterpiece "MudBa", and then I partnered with the little sister of the Translation Factory to voice a scene in the Japanese film "Kamata March", which also meant that the element of the dubbing complex of the translated film was added to the recitation.
The harmonica solo that follows is a Russian song ensemble, which evokes the Russian complex in many people's hearts (this show actually creates the effect of humming and clapping under the scene, which is also amazing).
The program in the pressure part is Ma Xiaohui's erhu solo "Spring River Flower Moon Night". I worked with her at the last "Yearning for the Noble" recital, and the first thing I said when I invited her on the phone was, "Are you still as kind as you used to be?" She quickly replied, "Of course, it's still like that!" "I know, it's done. Interestingly, before playing, she invited her mentor He Zhanhao, who was sitting in the first row, to the stage without greeting or pretentiously, and humorously ridiculed Ma Xiaohui's foreign appearance when he was a student. The audience laughed out loud, and I was hoping for such a small episode.
Huang Ying, Yang Ming, Wang Su, Zhang Huan, Lu Cheng, etc. also participated in the recitation, and my heart was full of gratitude for these like-minded little masters and sisters.
There is also an actor who sings for everyone, that is, He Tianfa, an alumnus of my play and a classmate of mine. He is a returned overseas Chinese from Malaysia, a very kind and good man, who only has New China in his mind, only the great construction of socialism, or an old squad leader who always reminds himself of the strict requirements of "I am a Communist Party member".
I have one dream after another, and the "Yearning for the Sublime" music recital is one of them. Today, the dream has come true, and it seems to be quite praised. Fortunately, I am still self-aware and not complacent. After the recitation, I have been asking for opinions, summing up the experience, and what to do next time, naturally it should be better. In short, living a full life is really the most important thing, and I encourage you all.
The following is the opening statement of my recitation, the original text of the writing down, looking forward to everyone's "comments", just like listening to my voice before, expressing my feelings -
Thank you to the audience and friends for their enthusiastic attention. Coming out of the hustle and bustle to get together is the greatest support for our recitation. I know that a few friends have also flown in from Beijing. My heart was full of gratitude, I was touched, warm, happy.
I often ask myself: Why such a recital? What is the purpose? Is it to make money? No. We all said okay, starting with me, not taking a penny (in fact, sticking it to yourself). Is it to make a name for itself? No. Is it for a so-called solo concert? Nor is it, neither is it.
Our purpose is just to do a little thing for ordinary people, so that they can live a little more happiness, a little more warmth, a little more touching, or a kind of reward. Because, frankly, the artist will be famous and advantageous, this is not to be avoided, the degree is different. The question is this name, who gave this profit? It was given by the people! Don't forget this, never forget. This should be repaid, always to be repaid.
Yes, this recital was planned by me, I directed, I hosted, I participated in the performance, and some of the articles were written by me, and it didn't matter. Besides, I want to have no voice now, I want to remember sex without sex, I want to be old... It doesn't matter either. What is important is those four words - yearning for the sublime. And this yearning for the sublime is not my alone, I believe that every friend here has a yearning for the sublime in their hearts, right?
