Empty ammunition will be used during the exercises

During the exercise, the military and police will use empty ammunition at two locations, Orchard Grove and Sentosa.

Over the past few years, Singapore has held several counter-terrorism exercises across the island, codenamed "Polaris".

In 1997, Singapore launched its first Polaris exercise. The earliest ones simulated large-scale civil disasters, such as hazardous chemical leaks and fires, refinery fires, plane crashes, etc. Later, as the global anti-terrorism situation became more and more severe, the main subjects of the exercise were gradually adjusted to counter-terrorism.

It's only a matter of time before a terrorist attack happens

Singapore has always stressed that it is only a matter of time before a terrorist attack is inevitable and cannot be avoided.

Therefore, people must be prepared, including psychologically.

And in the aftermath of the attacks, all of them are united and quickly return to normalcy and not be intimidated by terrorism.

As we all know, Singapore introduced the concept of "comprehensive defence" in 1984, and this year marks the 40th anniversary.

The so-called "all-round defense" means that all aspects of society are defended, and there are six pillars, namely: economic defense, psychological defense, social defense, civil defense, digital defense, and military defense.

Since young men in every household in Singapore have to serve, everyone is more interested in military themes.

There are also a large number of military-themed film and television works on the market.

These are the meticulous masterpieces of renowned Singaporean director Leong Chee Keong.

Born in the military art troupe, Liang Zhiqiang successfully created countless myths in Singapore variety shows in the nearly 20 years from 1990 to 2008, as well as several well-known characters, especially "Granny Liang" and "Liang Ximei".

Some people also found out that Granny Leung may have something to do with the future Prime Minister Lawrence Wong......

The military theme is Liang Zhiqiang's best movie theme. Taking "The Story of Recruits 2" as an example, it defeated Wong Kar-wai's "The Grandmaster", Stephen Chow's "Journey to the West: Conquering Demons" and Bruce Willy's "Ultimate Detective: Transnational Rescue", setting a new box office record and becoming the highest-grossing Singaporean film in film history.

NS Symposium & Movie Reception for "The Story of Recruits 3".

On 25 May (Saturday), the Singapore Tianfu Association will organise a National Service themed sharing event, with director Leung Chee Keung sharing his military experience and creative experience, and Tianfu Club children and their parents sharing their service experience and journey, as well as a screening of "The Story of the Recruit 3".

As for today's joint counter-terrorism exercise, we will follow up and report on it. Stay tuned!

Readers are welcome to provide photos and videos of today's drill.
