On the evening of July 18th, at the Shanghai Summer Music Festival, four musicians of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra— Zhang Qiu, Li Cong, Fu Yifei and Enrico Kalini, led fans back to the former Paris and opened a corner of the feast under the name of "Once upon a time, Paris".

The concerts featured Debussy's Moonlight, Satie's Six Occult Pieces, Three Nude Dances, and Stravinsky's The Duty of Spring. These works, which were either published in Paris or became famous in Paris, have long become the musical labels of Paris, and in the former Paris, the three composers met each other and were inextricably linked.
"In the first half, we pursued an ethereal mood, constructing a mysterious, illusory Paris in the music of Debussy and Satie, and in the second half, we wanted to contrast it with Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring', which has a strong sense of rhythm and impact." Fu Yifei said.

As a percussionist of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Fu Yifei has always been radiant on the percussion stage, and now he has also taken on the responsibility of adaptation, adapting Satie's piano pieces "Three Nude Dances" and "Six Mysteries" (partial) into piano + vibrato versions, and adapting Stravinsky's orchestral music "Spring Festival" into a double piano + double percussion version.
As the "main course" of the evening, "Spring Festival" is even more amazing and unforgettable.
In the orchestral version of "Spring Festival", the percussion is composed of 2 timpani drums and 4 percussion pieces, and after being adapted into a double piano + double percussion version, although the number of performers has been reduced, the percussion instruments have not been reduced - Fu Yifei uses both hands and feet, as if "Thousand Hands Kannon", one person is responsible for several percussion instruments, playing the momentum of a band.
Enrico Kalini is principal timpani of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In "The Rite of Spring", this Italian grandfather does not lose the battle, knocks on the timpani drum to form and spirit, and knocks on your heart impartially, making ripples. He also participated in the adaptation of the song.
Zhang Qiu is the assistant conductor of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Li Cong is the clarinetist of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, but in "The Rite of Spring", they all transform into pianists, sit on the piano, and let the notes flow out of their hands.
How did everyone become "slash youth"?
"Totally coincidental!" Li Cong laughed and said that he was originally a piano major, and later he was discovered by the first clarinet teacher and began to change the runway. In his opinion, the more instruments he is good at, the more he understands the composer's creative intentions, and his understanding of the composer's creative intentions will be sharper and deeper. He also studied conducting, hoping to understand music more broadly through the perspective of conducting.
Similarly, Zhang Qiu studied conducting and piano, and his father Zhang Guoyong was a well-known conductor in the industry. There is such a father in front, Zhang Qiu admitted that there must be pressure, "you do not reach 100%, many people will think that it should not be, but music is difficult to quantify the results, it is difficult to see small goals, maybe 10 years is a change, 20 years is a wake-up call, I must reach 200% to withstand this pressure." ”
Working with two musicians with a background in conducting, Fu Yifei laughed and said that the feelings are indeed very different, "They have a good pair of ears, their hearing is more sensitive, and they are much more macroscopic than single performers when analyzing works, which is particularly helpful to our combination." ”
There are so many conductors, and everyone has their own opinions, will they "fight"?
"First of all, everyone's personalities are particularly in tune, and second, the pronunciation and principle of percussion and piano are consistent, and the ability to understand music is compatible, so it is particularly happy to work together." In this chamber music group, Zhang Qiu does not think of himself as a conductor, "We are a team, the best state is that everyone has their own characteristics, and then connect the characteristics to reach an unprecedented height." ”
"The conductor is in charge of the whole situation, and the chamber music group pays the most attention to cooperation, although the rehearsal time is limited, but our efficiency is very high." Li Cong believes that efficient rehearsal comes from everyone's consensus on chamber music, and each other will listen to each other, "Everyone is blunt during rehearsals, and they will output their own musical views, but we also respect each other's musical views, such a working state is very valuable, and I cherish the opportunity to play together." ”
On weekdays, in the big band of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, all four people have "their own" jobs, and in the summer music festival, they all open themselves, reveal another side, and play freely.
