Such traits make them appear more "lazy" because they are more inclined to choose an efficient way to handle things rather than spending too much time on trivial details.
Secondly, smart people tend to have higher self-requirements and standards. They tend to have higher demands on themselves than the average person, so they may appear more cautious and prudent when it comes to completing tasks. They spend more time thinking and planning to ensure that the end result meets their own standards, which can also give the illusion of "laziness" because they will not easily go for superficial quick completion, but will strive for higher quality and depth.
