What is the difference between GOST and GOST R?

GOST certification is mandatory and voluntary
If the product is included in the list of products subject to the Compulsory Certification of the Government of the Russian Federation in the list of products (including amendments and additions) of the Resolution No. 2425 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated December 23, 2021, the mandatory conformity confirmation procedure must be carried out. The list divides products into two categories: mandatory GOST certification and mandatory GOST-R declaration. (If the product is not covered by the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union, it must be confirmed whether it is on the control list of Decree No. 2425)
Voluntary GOST certification is for production processes, products and services. Voluntary GOST certification can be obtained for any product that is not within the scope of mandatory certification.
In voluntary GOST certification, the regulatory basis for confirming conformity is the various GOST standards, building codes and regulations, TU technical specifications and other technical documentation of the product.
