The 75 years of New China's defense of the country
In July 1949, when the Yueyang area had just been liberated, the remnants of the Kuomintang and the security regiment were entangled with the king of Dongting Lake, and continued to rob passing ships. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) deployed two battalions of troops to encircle and suppress it. On April 3, 1950, the "April 3" tragedy broke out, and more than 10 cadres in Yueyang County were killed by habitual bandits. Subsequently, Yueyang County repeatedly joined forces with the military region and local armed forces to encircle and suppress the bandits, and in less than two years, the Dongting Lake bandits were completely wiped out.
The comic strip "Ludang Sharp Soldiers" depicts the story of militia investigator Yang Bo leading Li Xiaochun and Niu Dahan to carry out the task of investigating and tracking the lake bandits, waging a witty and ingenious struggle with the enemy, and finally capturing the bandit leader alive.
