The motto of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is "Study, Prudence, Discernment, and Practice". They are respectively from "The Analects of Taber", "Chapter 20 of the Mean", and "The Emperor's Classics: Viewing Things". The original intention of the ancient text is to summarize the learning methods and processes of Confucian scholars studying the classics, aiming to study and behave for the social ideals of Confucianism, self-cultivation, family unity, governing the country, and leveling the world. Duxue: Du, down-to-earth, profound. Learning, that is, learning knowledge with a serious and sincere attitude. Careful thinking: Emphasizing the need to think carefully about what we have learned, "learning without thinking is reckless", only focusing on learning without paying attention to thinking, it is possible to be deceived and fall into confusion. Discernment: It means to have the ability to discern wisely. If you don't have "discernment" in learning, it will be difficult to improve yourself if you don't distinguish between truth and falsehood, good and bad. Therefore, training the ability to clearly distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood, good and evil, is the key to doing a good job. Shang Xing: It is further emphasized that we should attach importance to practice, advocate the implementation of what we have learned, and use practical actions to repay the society, serve the country, contribute to the nation, and promote development.

The program adopts a dual mentorship system, with the British side serving as the first mentor and the Chinese side serving as the second mentor.
