Fu Laiying's visit to the mainland was full of joy, but the Taiwan authorities were yin and yang, and the people on the island could not bear it

Fu Laiqing's visit to the mainland can be said to have returned with a full load, and the mainland has given everything the island wants, but the Taiwan authorities have been yin and yang on the sidelines, and the people on the island can no longer bear it.

In the past two days, Fu Lai-ying has led more than 10 Kuomintang "legislators" to visit the mainland, and his visit is also aimed at continuing the positive effects brought about by Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland and further promoting the "ice-breaking" between the two sides of the strait. Therefore, both sides of the strait have paid close attention to Fu Laiqing's trip.

After his arrival in Beijing, the mainland not only sent Pan Xianzhang, deputy director of the mainland's Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, to the airport to pick her up, but also Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference [CPPCC], personally received Fu and his entourage at the Great Hall of the People. In this meeting with Wang Huning, Fu Laiqing also put forward two major demands in person.

Fu Laiying's visit to the mainland was full of joy, but the Taiwan authorities were yin and yang, and the people on the island could not bear it

One is to hope that the mainland can provide more help to Hualien in the earthquake relief, and the other is to hope that the mainland can help Hualien develop, such as expanding the introduction of Hualien's agricultural and fishery products, and opening up more mainland tourists to travel to Taiwan, especially to Hualien County. It can be seen that Fu's visit was mainly focused on promoting cross-strait cooperation in agriculture and tourism.

Of course, since Fu Laiqing has a request for the mainland this time, he is naturally full of sincerity, and the team he led this time to visit the mainland is also the largest since 2016. Moreover, during his visit to the mainland, he was also in a meeting of Taiwan's "legislative branch." Judging from these aspects, Fu Laiqing is also fully prepared this time.

It is precisely because Fu Laiqing visited the mainland with sincerity that the mainland immediately responded to his two major demands this time. Spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Mainland

Zhu Fenglian said in the past two days that the mainland will donate materials to the disaster area in Hualien through the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the strait, and the Red Cross Society of the mainland has donated a number of prefabricated houses, and the first batch of 100 sets will be directly sent to Hualien.

Subsequently, Zhao Zenglian, deputy director of the General Administration of Customs of the mainland, also announced after talks with Fu Laiqing that he would resume the import of agricultural and fishery products such as Wendan pomelo from Taiwan to the mainland. You must know that in the past few years, Hualien's Wendan pomelo sold to the mainland accounted for 90% of the whole, and now the mainland has resumed the import of Wendan pomelo and other products, which is undoubtedly an exciting good news for Hualien.

Not only that, on the same day, Rao Quan, vice minister of culture and tourism of the mainland, also announced that he would take the lead in resuming tourism from Fujian to Matsu, and would also resume direct sea passenger flights from Pingtan in Fujian to Taiwan, so as to promote the recovery of tourism between the two places. Immediately afterwards, the mainland also revealed that it will gradually resume the opening of direct air passenger flights from more than 30 mainland destinations to Taiwan.

It can be seen from this that the mainland can be said to have given Fu Laiqing enough face this time. Of course, this is also inseparable from the efforts of Ma Ying-jeou and others. First, this move is an affirmation of the KMT's insistence on maintaining dialogue with the mainland on the "consensus of '92," and the mainland's series of positive feedback is also conducive to encouraging more Taiwan people to visit and exchange with the mainland on the basis of adhering to the "consensus of '92."

Second, it is also to take care of Hualien, which has been prone to earthquakes recently. In fact, the mainland has been saying that it can help Hualien in disaster relief during this time, but the Taiwan authorities have continued to obstruct this matter. Therefore, with Fu Laiying's visit to the mainland this time, the mainland will not have a chance to manipulate the DPP if it helps Hualien again. For the mainland, in fact, it can be regarded as killing two birds with one stone.

However, when the DPP saw this, it was angry on the sidelines. Before Fu Laiqing left, Wu Siyao, the "secretary general of the Youth League" of the Democratic Progressive Party, hyped up that Fu Laiqing's trip was secretive, and what unspeakable things did not dare to be made public. Moreover, she also accused the team led by Fu Laiqing of lacking "subjectivity" and "representativeness".

Fu Laiying's visit to the mainland was full of joy, but the Taiwan authorities were yin and yang, and the people on the island could not bear it

After the mainland announced these two measures, Wang Guocai, a responsible person of Taiwan's "transportation department," claimed that the scope of the mainland's opening up this time was too small, and that it was only open to Matsu from Fujian, but not to Kinmen, which has the largest passenger flow. Therefore, they need to further discuss the lifting of the "ban on groups".

It is also sufficient to see from this that it is the DPP authorities who have been obstructing cross-strait exchanges and unilaterally erecting obstacles to the resumption of cross-strait relations. Li Qiyue, chairman of the Taiwan Quality Tourism Development Association, also called on the Taiwan authorities to seize this opportunity and lift the "ban on group groups" as soon as possible.

If the Taiwan authorities miss this opportunity, they will not only bring more economic losses to the island, but will also further erode the trust of the people on the island in the DPP.
