Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on April 27, 2024 that the mainland is willing to provide assistance and will donate prefabricated houses to the people in the Hualien-stricken areas through the Red Cross organizations on both sides of the strait. This move shows the mainland's concern for and support for the Taiwan compatriots, and also shows the spirit of the compatriots on both sides of the strait in helping each other and overcoming difficulties together in the face of natural disasters.
With regard to the mainland itinerary of Hualien Wang Fu Kunqing and other representatives of public opinion, the mainland side expressed its support. This shows that the mainland side is willing to communicate and cooperate with the Taiwan side to jointly promote the development of cross-strait relations.
At the same time, this is also a response to Fu Kunqing and other public opinion deputies who adhere to the "consensus of '92" and oppose "Taiwan independence." The "92 Consensus" is the foundation for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and opposing "Taiwan independence" is an inevitable requirement for safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The mainland has always adhered to the "consensus of '92," opposed "Taiwan independence," and is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Taiwan side to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
