On April 25, the Public Security Department of the Autonomous Region, the High People's Court of the Autonomous Region, and the People's Procuratorate of the Autonomous Region jointly held a press conference on the 4.26 World Intellectual Property Day, reporting on the achievements of the Autonomous Region in protecting intellectual property rights and cracking down on infringement crimes since 2023, and releasing a number of typical cases of combating intellectual property infringement crimes.
At the press conference, the work achievements of the public security organs in the region in protecting intellectual property rights and cracking down on the crime of manufacturing and selling counterfeit and shoddy goods since 2023 were reported, the work of the people's courts at all levels in the region in adjudicating intellectual property cases, and the work of the supervision organs in the region in handling cases of intellectual property infringement crimes. Through various forms of publicity, such as holding press conferences and releasing typical cases, we will build a good atmosphere for the whole society to jointly protect intellectual property rights, adhere to the active judiciary, and help promote the business environment based on the rule of law.
Up to now, the public security organs in the region have cracked a total of 882 criminal cases involving intellectual property rights and the production and sale of counterfeit and shoddy goods, and arrested 1,234 criminal suspects, involving more than 2.6 billion yuan, all of which have hit a record high. The people's courts at all levels in the region have concluded a total of 1,881 intellectual property cases, including 1,823 civil cases, 52 criminal cases and 6 administrative cases. Among the 1,823 civil cases, 674 were trademark disputes, 70 were patent disputes, 567 were copyright disputes, 137 were unfair competition disputes, and 375 were other cases. A total of 53 cases and 100 arrests were handled by procuratorial organs for intellectual property infringement, an increase of 165 percent and 355 percent year-on-year, respectively, and 123 cases and 277 persons were examined and prosecuted for intellectual property infringement crimes, an increase of 151 percent and 251 percent year-on-year respectively.
In the next step, the autonomous region's public security and judicial organs will strengthen publicity and guidance on the protection of intellectual property rights and the crime of cracking down on the production and sale of infringing and counterfeit goods through various forms such as holding publicity exhibitions and on-site activities to destroy infringing and counterfeit goods, holding press conferences, in-depth enterprise publicity, and publicly reporting on typical cases.
